Is wearing underwear outside of your clothes in a public place considered pornography?

I am working on a class project for college and we have to pick a norm in society then break that norm in a public place. Our group chose wearing our underwear outside of our clothes so we will be going to church like this. I do not want to get any legal actions against me for this assignment.

So is it legal?

While not considered pornographic, it is considered highly improper. You may not be arrested, but you may be escorted off the church property. Now, if you do not go when asked, THEN it becomes trespassing, and the cops may be called for THAT.

BTW... this really is not an ETIQUETTE question... but thanks for asking!

    Have a polite day.

Etiquette takes over where laws end.

No it's not illegal; it's the same as wearing a swimsuit. Some underclothes actually cover more than some swimsuit. Choosing to go to church this way is very poor judgment, juvenile, and some will consider blasphemy. Go to a mall, museum, or any place but a church. It's wrong to cause any disruption at a place of worship.

Also, you should look up the definition of pornography. You've got it all wrong.

As long as you don't have any "private" body parts on show no its not pornograpy, underwear is just clothes, its jus you don't see them very often. Its just as you say,out of the norm,a bit of a taboo. Sure you will get a lot of nasty comments from the prudish in society but no it is not illegal, they are just clothes!

As long as your wearing short and then underwear, you may be asked to leave the chruch property that is all.

Did you look up the definition of pornography before you asked this question? It would have helped.

If it were Superman would have been arrested long ago.

Going to church that way might cause issues.

Legal but stupid. It just screams -"Look at me! I don't get enough attention!"

    Find something else to 'break'.

ONLY wearing underwear over clothing at a Church? Not at a restaurant? A professional baseball game? A dog park? Grocery store? Car Wash? At Yoga Class? How about THE CLASS, itself? While going to class? Waiting for a bus?

    Standing on a street corner..

waiting for a bus. Some of you could appear to be suspicious and therefore, stopped by Law Enforcement for your experiment, (appearing to be intoxicated..possibly crazy..or prostitutes)..but if the underwear is worn over clothing and your body is concealed then it wouldn't be considered indecent exposure.

    As far as Church:

It may be considered very rude and disrespectful to all of the others who're trying to attend mass because of their faith. It could be considered a sacrilege by some..and deliberately being inconsiderate. Since people attend mass for hope, strength and it's a way for them to get through difficult times..

to have students show up, giggling, and wearing underwear over their clothing would likely be highly disruptive, irritating and rude. If the parishioners are disrupted and annoyed to the point of asking you to leave then by not leaving, it could cause someone to call authorities but I doubt it would be taken that far. If only one or two of you showed up and sat in the very back..stayed seated..then it seems like it wouldn't be as big of an issue for the others who're there for genuine reasons. I believe the experiment wouldn't have to incorporate disrespecting others..

so the Church, Temple, or Synagogue idea seems wrong. Walking into McDonald's wouldn't be as offensive..or walking through an airport. No one is practicing their faith in other public settings, where church is a different matter. Wearing underwear over ones clothing in front of children may be a problem for parents at a Church.

Hmm mm...not sure if I'd go for the Church idea, but that's just me. How about showing up at your school dressed like that..for the whole day?
