Whats the difference between a bodyboard and a surfboard?

Body boards are much shorter, and a person holds onto it and lays on it and rides in on a wave. It's kind of like a really large kickboard.
A surfboard is much longer, and has skegs like someone else said. You can lay on it or kneel on it, but most will stand up on it and ride it in.

Wrong ZD Cool! Riding a wave with no board is called body surfing. A body board is a short board like a Boogie Board or an ancient hawaiian Paipo board that someone rides laying prone. A surfboard is a larger board, usually with anywhere from one to five fins or "skegs" that someone rides standing up. I have been surfing since 1966, and it is incredible fun, if approached with the right attitude and skill sets. This link ma be helpful.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surfing
