Best answer: This is one of those procedures where your face look worse before it starts to look better. It can look so awful that you wonder why you did it -but your skin is much healthier without all those blackheads plugging up your pores. The blackheads are like tiny little invaders making the pores unhealthy and wounded in a way. After they are gone your pores can begin to heal and like any other wound it will take time to heal. If you've ever scratched or cut yourself you know a wound looks worse the day after and it takes a while to heal. That redness is the healing process. blood and oxygen are racing to the wounds so they can heal. Your skin will need some down-time but the redness will go away.
She said it will take 2 to 4 days to heal and not even a day has passed. You need to be patient and wait the two to four days before you see it getting better. However if you are really worried contact whoever did the extraction and ask about ways to soothe the redness. When my niece had it done she was told to use cool compresses on the skin to help cool the redness and calm the inflammation. taking an anti-inflammatory medicine will also help. Motrin, advil or other ibuprofen drugs work best. Tylenol and acetaminophen does nothing for inflammation so don't take them. Do not use aspirin, it can cause serious health problems in anyone under 18. Don't use any topical creams unless the person who did the extraction told you to use them. If the redness gets worse, or the pores start to "weep" water, red, white or yellow fluid, or you start to get a fever and body aches then contact a doctor immediately. You have a secondary infection. This is rare but it can happen.
