I keep hearing a lot of pitbull owners and pitbull defenders use the argument: It's not the dog's fault, its the human's fault for raising them poorly! Everything is the fault of humans! All dogs are beautiful and perfect! F*ck all humans! So apparently these humans are raising these pitbulls to become violent and that's why they snap and attack their own owners and maul little children to death? If that's the case then how come you never hear of K-9 German Shepherd units ever attacking anyone? Those dogs are strictly trained from the age of puppies, to chase and hunt down criminals. Not to mention aggressively bite at them. But you never hear of K-9 German Shepherds ever straying off and killing innocent people or ever snapping on their owners do you? This might sound insanely farfetched, but is it possible that the problem is in the breed? I have seen articles of pitbulls killing children and their owners, and in the comments section of those articles you can see hundreds of pitbull defenders saying '' It's the human's fault! They probably triggered the pitbull to attack by blinking their eyes....or by breathing too loud! Those nasty humans! Leave those beautiful pitbulls alone! ''

  • Is it true that if you have a dog before you have your children they will get jealous?

Like say that you recently have a bay and you’ve had your dog for a couple years. Will the dog get jealous because you are not giving it the attention you used to?

Best answer: IMO, you always need to be concerned over lumps and bumps. Yes, large lumpy things are often fatty cysts or tumors and benign, but Goldens are prone to various types of cancer including mast cell - which is slow growing and can be removed.

We had a dog get bone cancer of the TOE and it started out as a lump and it grew, and it DID begin to bother the dog, as she walked. She often licked it, - but she had had food allergies all her life and often licked her paws (despite medications) so until I could see the ulceration, it did not seem serious. At about that point, I consulted my breeder and she urged me to in fact see my vet, as she thought it could be bone cancer and she was right. Sadly, the old girl had so many OTHER health problems we opted NOT to cut her toe off or to make her suffer since it was causing discomfort. (X-rays had already shown a painful bony growth on her pelvis shaped like a HOOK, going back towards her bladder and kidneys, among OTHER things.) We also knew Great Danes - (which she was not) actually DIE of leg and bone cancer. Cutting off a toe, does not guarantee the cancer has not or will not spread.

  • Question about winter coats for dogs?

I am going shopping for my puppy a winter jacket. I was wondering if the jacket acts as a harness as well and if there will be a loop for me to clasp the leash to ? If not , Is the harness to be worn underneath the jacket? Or over the jacket?

To make a long story short, my boyfriends dog was attacked by his brothers dog, and while defending himself, Butch (boyfriends dog) bit and left a mark on the other dog. Butch has only been with them for about two months, other dog almost 5 years. Boyfriends mom refuses to let Butch back in the house. I took Butch in, as he d been in my home plenty of times and I knew he got along with all my own animals, including my three other dogs. My boyfriend comes around regularly, like at least 5 hours a day, seven days a week. Unfortunately, the other 19 hours a day, he is deeply depressed. He s lost weight even though he s eating plenty, and is just not handling like I like. He gets extremely overjoyed when my boyfriend comes over, but that can t be 24/7. And he doesn t want to bond with any of us, even though we try. Any idea what to do to help Butch out? When he s over, my bf spends the whole time with him. Going back home is not an option, we don t want to risk him hurting the other dog worse (even though the other dog is the aggressor)/

On friday october 12th, my boyfriend and i took his brothers dog on a walk around 9pm. His dog is about 5 years old and is a half german shepherd/great dane. He was extremely excited and happy to go on a walk as usual. Jumping and yelling as soon as the leash comes out. We returned from our 30 minute walk and 2 hours later, his brother calls my boyfriend and asks if anything happened to the dog when we went on a walk because the dog became paralyzed and couldnt walk, resulting in dragging himself to get around. We were completely shocked, because all we did was walk him and then take him back home. He had to take his dog to an animal hospital and put him to sleep. The vet looked for any syptoms of him getting bit by an insect outdoors but there were no signs. As far as i know, the vet told him there was nothing they could do and that if they were to perform surgeries it would be very expensive and not knowing if they would even work. This is a huge mystery and was so unexpected. None of it makes any sense. Did he suddenly have a stroke? Is it something neurological? Can a professional, veterinarian or someone in the medical field that is experienced with animal medicine explain this to me please? We miss his dog so much and this was a huge shock.
