How do I fix a computer that won't turn on and makes a blowing noise instead?

One day, I was on my personal computer, minding my own business, when Chrome just crashed. I was so mad that I kicked my computer 10 times. After that, my computer just froze, so I had to reboot it. And when I rebooted it, my computer wouldn't start up. Instead, it would make this loud blowing noise. I tried finding a solution to the problem online, but to no avail, so if you had this issue before and know how to fix it, please let me know as soon as possible.

P.S. For those of you who are confused, I posted this using my laptop.

    Computer wont detect hard drive?

So i recently got a new computer and wanted to install an also new hard drive into it.

For whatever reason the computer does not detect the hard drive ive tried multiple ports, switched the sata cable 3 times, which are also new, and even checked it in the bios. I know the hard drive is turning on because i can hear it but i dont understand why it wont detect. It does not appear in my computer or disk management. I dont know if theres a bios setting i missed but thats my only guess at this point.

    Thank you

How do I properly reset a PC for someone I’m selling it to?

This is my first time selling a desktop I made and I have a general question; Are the physical driver disks necessary for the new user after resetting the PC? I just want to ensure setting it up for themselves when they take it home is plug-and-play convenient. I guess to better describe what I’m asking is is there anything essential taken out of a recovery process after resetting?

    building my first pc ?

    Favorite Answer:

You first pick a Processor and Graphics card that falls within your budget and needs, then find a motherboard that has the features you want, and then look at a power supply that is stable and has enough overhead to power the system. Unless you're overclocking the CPU, the motherboard won't have any impact on the performance of the pc.

Benchmarks have shown that a Ryzen 5 3600 with a good CPU cooler beats the Ryzen 5 3600x and the stock cooler. High Power consumption and High Thermals will cause a Ryzen 3000 series CPU to downclock. Generally the Ryzen 5 3600x is not that popular because it offers maybe a 100mhz boost over the Ryzen 5 3600.

Ryzen processors are optimized to work with DDR4-3200 memory, not DDR4-3000 memory. DDR4-3600 cl16 memory is good if you want to tweak the memory to get more performance. Ryzen processors are still sensitive to memory speeds because of the way the cache is configured.

Unless you have a storage drive from another build, you'll need to get a storage drive. The 240gb SSD is too little for games.

You can use pcpartpicker to compile a build list. The pcpp website always issues a warning when a Ryzen 3000 series CPU and a b450 board are paired together. However the MSI Max series came out after the Ryzen 3000 processors came out, so all of these Max series motherboards will be compatible with Ryzen 3000 processors without needing a BIOS update. Also, since the Ryzen 3000 series processors have been out for 13 months, most any b450 motherboard that's on the shelf has been manufactured within the last 3 months and it is going to be compatible. This is because a newer board is going to come with a BIOS that was written after the Ryzen 3000 series processors were released.

The type of GPU that fits is going to be determined by the capacity of the power supply, room in the case, and most of all..... your budget. 650w may be a bit of overkill for a 6gb RTX 2060 but 650w will work with most high end graphics cards like an RTX 2080 Super or GTX 1080ti. Nvidia plans to release new graphics cards in the near future and cards like the RTX 3060 should be out by the end of the year. If you still want to build your PC and you want something to scrape by until the new cards come out then look for a used GTX 970, 6gb GTX 1060, RX 580, or RX 570.

Would it be unethical if I sell an HD7850 as an R7 370?

    Favorite Answer:

There should be labels on the card that will say what it is. On top of that, programs like CPU-Z, GPU-Z, MSI Afterburner, HWMonitor, etc will say what it is. More than likely, whoever you sell it to will find out it's an HD7850.

The R7 370 might have similar specs to the 7850, but the GPU in the R7 370 is based off of the Pirate Islands reversion. So the clocks on the R7 370 are higher and the TDP is lower.

This would basically be like me trying to sell a Core i7-6700k as a Core i7-7700k. Both processors are almost the same but the primary difference is the 7700k is clocked higher, it can overclock higher, and it come with slightly better integrated graphics.

Also, you don't know if you're going to sell it to someone who it Bat-**** crazy. Yes, it's unethical and you could be putting yourself in danger by being dishonest. Every once in a while I'll see someone who is selling a GTX 760 or GTX 770 for $60, and the GTX 760 is better than both cards you listed. Also, on the 2nd hand market, Nvidia cards are more desirable. So don't expect to get much out of your 7850. You might as well list that you're firm at $50 but you would like to trade with cash for an RX 580.

I have a Dell Dimension E510 with crashed/unfixable hard drive.  Can I replace and upgrade to windows 10?

I have a Dell Dimension E510.  Years ago, the hard drive crashed and is unfixable.  The computer says it is non existent. I want for my family member to be able to use the computer.  It is a windows XP.  I know XP is unsafe for the internet, and would like to be able to upgrade to windows 10.  First, does it sound like I just need to take out the old hard drive and put a new compatible one in?  I guess it would have to be upgraded too with more memory or hard disk space.  Also if I end up putting in a new hard drive, and install the software that came with the computer, can I then install windows 10?  I'm not sure if windows xp would install with the dell operating system sofware.  I would assume it would or how would it run.  Hopefully it would and not ask for a code or something.  Could I then upgrade to windows 10 with no issues, or would it make the computer run to slow?  Do you think I would have to replace anything else other than the hard drive?  Does anyone know a good one that is not too expensive that I could get on Amazon that would be compatible?  I am not a tech expert, so any help with all my questions would be appreciated.

Is my power supply to blame, or my motherboard?

Today when I went to turn my pc on one of the fans started spinning for a second, but then it stopped, and the pc never tried to boot up at all.  I'm going to take out the power supply to see if I can test it, but given one of the fans comes on for just an instant does that mean my motherboard has likely gone bad, or could it still be the power supply?

Someone took my old desktop, can they steal my information? ?

I had a desktop computer about 10 years ago that I ended up storing away in the attic of my home. My parents recently cleaned out the attic and left a bunch our old things on our lawn the other night so that the haulers could pick it up in the morning. However, somebody took my old desktop during the night as it was missing when the haulers came. I didn't wipe anything from the hard drive. Would the person who took my computer be able to get any of my information by going through it? I believe I had set a password on it but I'm not sure. Are there any steps I can take to ensure my safety?

    UPGRADED MY CPU NOTHING CHANGED??

    Favorite Answer:

I upgraded a system from an Athlon II x4 to a Phenom II x6 and it took a couple of Boot cycles for the system to pick up the new CPU and the core count increase.

Run benchmarks to make sure the CPU is performing correctly.

Sometimes CPU upgrades don't work well with the O.S. and in these cases the O.S. will need to be reinstalled.

You can use CPU-Z to verify your CPU and CPU-Z even has a benchmark and stress test portion.

It takes time for device manager to get things right and the O.S. might have updated the Chipset drivers.

Can you help me find out what's wrong with my computer? ?

Every 30 minutes (exactly 1800 seconds) my computer randomly shuts off with no warning. I have changed my ram and motherboard, cleaned my computer several times, messed around in my power options and several other things. I can not find out for the life of me why my computer shuts off. It must be some sort of program or something but I just don't know how to find it. Is this a common problem? Is there some way I can fix this without wasting more money?
