I currently live in Virginia and want to move to Seattle to participate in a Data Science Bootcamp with either Galvinize U or General Assembly. I can't stand my current job nor the drama and bs I'm around at this moment. I'll have everything I need around Thanksgiving and I plan on rolling out that weekend and arrive before the first of December. Before I go, I plan on investing in some warm clothes, water, emergency kit, brand new tires, and a tune up. The two quickest routes go through I-64 and various other hwys through WVa, OH, IN, IL with one diverging through IA,MN, and connecting to I-90 in SD and onto WY, MT, ID and WA. The other from IL to WI on I-90 to I-94 through MN, ND, MT and re-emerging on I-90 in MT through ID and WA. The beginning of the trip in the Eastern Mid-Western states I'm not concerned about and anticipate it being a breeze (with the exception of all of those tolls in IL). My biggest concern is the weather in either of the Dakotas and getting through the Rockies in MT, ID, and WA. I've heard many horror stories of Avalanches and extreme Sub-Zero temperatures getting as low as -40°F. I've considered taking the Southern "Panhandle" on I-40 from TN to CA and take I-5 along the coast once I get to CA. However, that would lengthen my trip considerably and cost me more time and money. Any helpful tips? I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who live or have traveled to the high concern areas of the Dakotas, Montana, Idaho, and East Washington.

  • Can cities in different states merge?

Best answer: No. Each state incorporates cities, towns, villages, etc. It would be impractical for one city to operate under two different states' laws, regulations, tax policies, etc.

Best answer: That's a very broad question! Florida is big and different areas have different attributes. I was looking into moving to the Beverly hills area above Tampa a couple of years ago. The property taxes are cheap compared to the North East states and there's no taxes on SS income, but I've heard horrible things about additional taxes like some kind of "water run off tax" and other taxes that you don't have elsewhere that make up for that difference. Add that to the fact that you'll be running air conditioning more and most areas requiring flood insurance and it really cuts down on the attraction of the place. Not to mention, everything in Florida can kill you, even the drivers. Eventually, we opted against going there and found some nice areas in Georgia and Tennessee that interest us.
