If you were a teacher, would you turn a blind eye to your student cheating on an exam?

In my class, we use our school laptops for everything, including to take tests and exams. As you can guess, this makes it super easy to cheat. Today, this girl was on Quizlet, looking for the answer, and accidentally clicked the speaker symbol which says the answer out loud. It was very loud and the teacher could hear but she (the teacher) didn’t say anything.

Should I make a complaint to my son's school over this teacher?

My son is getting badly bullied in school (he's age 17).

He's a good kid and never gets in trouble and doesn't have a lot of friends. He hasn't been himself at all recently and I think he could be suffering from depression.

He told me about bullying for the first time yesterday. He had enough of it because he deliberately goes to class late because he's terrified of being in a classroom alone without a teacher there.

He was late for english today so the teacher wouldn't let him into the class (hes late to every class but poor dude isn't trying to get attention or misbehave) and he sat outside the class room.

He doesn't like his history teacher at all. She passed by in corridor (nothing to do with her) and stuck a finger in his face and said he should be absolutely ashamed of himself for getting sent out of a classroom.

I was outraged and am considering reporting her to the principal and if I see her confront her about it. Do you think I should and how should I help my son if no teachers have the decency to ask him what's wrong, all they do is criticise him for being "lazy"?

Is it legal to stock your teacher after school so you can see the answers to the test?

    Favorite Answer:

yes sounds legal, but would be smarter to learn enough so you can just pass the test

    pronoun it vs they?

Generally we do not use the pronoun 'it' to refer to humans as it seems demeaning/dehumanizing as compared to using the pronoun they (excluding he or she, etc). Are there any sources as to where this connotation came about? I have searched online but am unable to find a reputable source.

    Please help! Thank you :D

My teacher kept us all in at lunch time but turned the temperature of the room up as hot as it would go why did she should I report her?

My teacher kept our class in today because someone shouted out a homophobic comment but no one would own up to it, but for some reason she turned the room temperature up as hot as it would go and we were all sweltering and she wouldn't let us have any lunch. Why did she do this and should I report her?

    How to become a teacher?

I have a masters degree in organic chemistry and have been working in the field for almost 20 years now. for about a year now I have felt the urge to go into teaching, as that was my original plan when I was in highschool. I was wondering if anyone knows how to do this. Would i have to go to college for four more years? or just get a teaching license since I already have a masters degree?

Please dont spam me. I realize this will be a pay cut and I have marked this as anonymous so my current employer doesnt see this before I fully make up my mind.

do you think its unfair that i should get a 4 hour saturday detention just because i got 3 detentions in a term ?

Today i was messing around in my maths class my teacher told me that unless i behaved i would be put into a friday detention 1 and a half hours, i ignored her as i dont do detentions and i dont listen to boring teachers, she gave me another 2 warnings, before she said THATS IT i have had enough detention friday 1 and a half hours, it was only then that i realised that this was my 3rd detention this term,my school has a strict policy that anyone that gets 3 detentions in a term will get a letter sent home and MUST serve a 4 hour saturday detention, i went up to my maths teacher and begged her to let me off, she said no i had been given plenty of warnings and deserved to be punished with a reguler detention plus a 4 hour saturday detention, ADVICE PLEASE ?

    Is this hypocritical?

Yesterday my 17-year-old daughter and her friend got told off by a teacher for smoking. I was called in to talk with her head of year about it today and said teacher was there. This teacher has been working there for about 10 years and after an evening performance of last year’s school play I noticed HER by her car smoking.

Now is this hypocritical for the teacher to tell students off for something she herself does? And is teachers smoking on school premises allowed anyway?

    Your take on this?

Okay so I asked something SIMILAR (not exactly the same thing however).

    2 students-are talking to eachother

Teacher-Says to one of the students "your talking is distracting other students who are trying to work"

Student-And your talking just now didn't distract and students who are trying to work?

    Your thoughts?

How do you feel about teachers who get off topic?

    Favorite Answer:

I personally don't mind it, as long as it doesn't happen all the time to the point where the teacher isn't getting through the material and we're stressed come test day.  Some of my favorite teachers have been those who relate what we are learning about to their own experiences.  One of my teachers during our 'vocabulary days' connected each word to something that happened in a movie by making a sentence about it, which was really interesting.  Some of my teachers also have really cool backstories that are definitely not boring to hear about!  I also like when teachers join the students in fun discussions we have.  Before my English class starts, we're always talking about something fascinating or debating something funny, that's usually unrelated to English, but my teacher always enjoys taking part.

Is it bad for a school to ask parents to wait until the summer for a student’s  surgery if the student is in pain?

    Favorite Answer:

i think the parents should ignore school's wish in this and simply do the surgery when they and the physicians think fit.  school can adjust [or take a proverbial flying leap]
