• If a customer makes a mistake on a restaurant take-out order, should they be obligated to pay for it or should the place redo it?

I ran into this problem yesterday at 1:00 p.m. I walked into a restaurant and mistakenly asked for 2 sausage dinners because I wanted to make sure the guy understood I didn't want sausage subs. A half-hour later I go to pick it up and was told the price was $40, but I only had $20 on me because that's what... show more

A half-hour later I go to pick it up and was told the price was $40, but I only had $20 on me because that's what the lunch special costs for the two meals and that's what I thought I ordered. The guy told me I ordered dinner and the portions are bigger and I had to pay $40. I told him I needed to get more money from my car, but I walked out and drove away with no food. I thought why would the guy think I wanted dinners at 1:00 p.m. in the afternnoon during the lunch special? Anyway, I know I handled it wrong, but what would be the right thing to do in this situation? I learned a good lesson, never order anything in a restaurant without pointing to the item on the menu.

  • In a restaurant, what's the difference between a server and a junior server?

Best answer: Sometimes it means that the junior server is still in training, other times it just means that they have not been there for very long, and the junior servers almost always make less.

  • What should I do if a restaurant worker or manager takes my order THEN surprises me saying they're doing to-go only AFTER THEY TOOK MY ORDER?

A while after I ordered, the guy working there brought over my drink then says "you know we're doing to-go only, right?" and informed me that they're closing early due to slow business. I didn't know that and dont know how I was supposed to already know they were doing to-go only. I feel that he should have told me that before i ordered food or even first thing when I walked in. I'm not so much mad because they were doing to-go only but what I am mad about is that he took my order making it seem like table service was an option then just surprised me with "you know we're doing to-go only right?" when it was beyond the last minute. What should I do when this kinda thing happens? Or what would you do if someone did that to you in this scenario?
