Can the average car run on liquor?

Let’s say it’s the apocalypse and there is no gas. If I were to go to the liquor store and fill the gas tank of my car up with liquor, will it run?

do people who park their vehicles all night on their steep driveways not worry about the vehicle rolling out of gear? why?

i seen pictures of people parked on their driveway and it is steep incline , but they just leave them all night like that, is it not hard on the transmission at least or the parking brake?  should you put your parking brake on FIRST before putting it in gear or vice versa ? why?

    Hissing coming from brake?

I'm not sure if this hissing noise is a sign of a bad brake booster, master cylinder or vacuum hose. My brake system works fine even since the hissing started. The brake pedal isn't tensing up on me and I'm not flooring it out either. The hissing stops when I press the brake all the way down, but hisses non stop while driving. Any ideas on what I should replace? I'd hate to replace the brake booster just to find out it's a totally different issue.

How do I start this car properly?

I just bought a new Camaro with the push to start. So I put my foot on the break and push the button. How long am I supposed to push the button and break? I keep cranking it and I’m worried I’m gonna hurt the car.

Get paid for someone hitting ur car? ?

I was at a McDonald’s parking lot , someone was literally backing up like 10 feet and I have no horn and they almost hit me . They didn’t hit me because I was quick and put my car in reverse.

I have a old ugly rusted 2003 mistubishi lancer. People were joking saying I should have let them hit me so I can get paid ... lol ! Is that actually true? They weren’t even going fast enough to cause me bodily harm

    Car jerks while braking?

All rotors and drums have been replaced this year, along with the entire system being flushed. Brake pads and shoes were also replaced. But what I am feeling is when I am traveling at high speeds and brake, the car like jerks forward and when my foot is on the brake the pedal is stiff as hell since everything was changed but one I apply the brakes the car stops but the pedal sinks a little bit and the car jerks then brakes normally and occasionally will jerk again. I brought it to a mechanic and he said there was no issues but obviously there is if it’s happening quite often. Any ideas?

Any idea what would cause, what sounds like a very faint knocking noise at 900 -1,000 rpms? ?

I have a 2011 camry 2.5 four cylinder, sometimes when I start it you can hear a very faint knocking sound while it’s at idle, but if you rev it up past 1,000 rpms the noise goes away. The oil light isn’t on, it has plenty of oil and was just changed not too long ago. I’m very puzzled and any input would be greatly appreciated.

White engine battery post oxidizes to a white color?

The positive post turns white after driving for awhile, then car stalls and while attempting to start the engine, the battery feels dead or weak.

It seems that the alternator is not charging the battery.  I charged the battery at home and it holds its charge at V12.37.

Its a 55Amps wet cell battery.

Its just that im confused after reading that if a post oxidizes its due to over charging...?

Otherwise, what parts of the alternator have failed to charge the battery ? Brushes, diode or rectifier ? Is there a way to test those parts ( continuity ) ?

Except for the brushes of course they'd be worn out and id need to visually inspect them.

    Thanks

Why can't you use the same oil that drained into the pan during an oil change, and where do you dispose of it?

Also I heard synthetic oil is the beat? Is that pricey?

    Thanks

P0135? Bad O2 sensor or wiring?

My Lincoln town car 2006 is running rich as I can smell unburnt gas smell from exhaust and fuel consumption is sh*t. I scanned for codes and got P0135 (O2 sensor heater malfunction). I erased the code while ignition switch was on and engine was shut. I removed the scanner and switched off the ignition and connected the sensor again and turned on the ignition switch.

I didn't even start the engine after erasing the code and the code was back again on scanning the 2nd time. Does it sound like a bad sensor or wiring?

I think my engine might be ruined... ?

347 stoker motor in my mustang has been great never let me down, never got hot etc.

It’s a mild engine, makes about 300hp at the wheels. I haven’t used the car much, maybe 3 times in two years.

The last time I took it out was 5 months ago. Over all it was a 40min drive around the suburbs. On the way home, I thought it was getting a little hot (no temp gauge) I pulled over and let the engine cool for a while, and topped up the water. When I went to crank the motor again, it just clicked and wouldn’t turn over (I thought it may have been the battery as it has been sitting around for so long) I tried the car again after waiting a further half hour and it fired up. From there it was a 10min drive home. I checked the temp in the driveway using my inferred temp gauge and it seemed all the normal operating temp. I parked it in the garage and it’s sat there since..Today (5 months later) I went to go and take it for a drive. Did all the checks, pulled the dipstick and it was milky. I was hoping, that it may have just been condensationI dumped the oil to find coolant mixed in with my oil. Obviously it’s blown a gasket, and I fear that it got a lot hotter than I thought ( especially thinking back to the fact it wouldn’t start ) I am also worried that Coolant has been sitting in my engine for 5 months rusting the componentsI haven’t tried to turn the motor over by hand yet to see it it’s seized. What’s the worst case here? Full rebuild? Or just new rings and bearings and I’ll be away.

I notice that the paint of newer car (maybe 2020 or newer) look really different. Like shiner, smoother, and just better quality?

    Favorite Answer:

That's clearcoat. It looks great until it oxidizes. then it looks shigtty like the car has leprosy. High quality way protects from that, but once the clearcoat is damaged you cannot change it.
