If you don't have the money to pay for insurance, you probably also don't have half a million just kicking around in your bank account. Because even if you don't have insurance, you're still responsible for any damage your vehicle does. Insurance just takes on that responsibility for you.
If you cause an accident where someone is injured, they're going to sue you. Half a million is nothing for an injury settlement these days. Do you really think the judge will go easier on you because you thought it was unfair that insurance costs so much, so you decided to drive without it? Not likely. Any assets you have will be seized and sold, then you'll spend the next 30 to 40 years working two jobs to pay down your debt.
Life's not fair, princess. Get used to it, or get run over by it.
