• Is it bad to smoke a cigarette when filling up with gas?

My wife is always saying I shouldn’t do it. She also got mad at me today because my car was running and I slammed the door while smoking and filling up. She was livid and I didn’t understand why.

I have started working a summer job with a catering company and got my first paycheck yesterday. Since I have a learners permit but cannot practice driving right now since mom is driving her boyfriends truck which has a stick shift, I asked mom about me helping to pay for a rental car for a few weeks so I can get some much needed practice driving. Mom says that there are no rental car companies that would allow 17 year old with a learners permit to drive under any circumstances, so there is no way I could practice driving on one if she did rent one. She doesn't see anything wrong with my sister and I being passengers in the truck. Wondering if there are any rental car companies that would allow me to drive the rental car if mom is riding in the front seat with me. Will probably offer to split the price of renting a car for a week or two if so as I really need to get some practice driving and the truck is a tight fit for my mom, sister, and I. Would appreciate any information on rental car companies that would let me drive so I can try talk mom into us renting a car. I can try to get my license in September and am really worried about not getting to practice driving to so long.

Personally I think it's completely unreasonable, but I wanna be open to all perspectives and see if anyone has any advice/insight. I'm 20 years old and I don't have a license or even driven a car for that matter... but it's not like I haven't tried. When I turned 16 I wanted to take my permit test but my mom kept shutting me down and saying no and getting angry. I FINALLY took it when I was 18 (and passed). In my state permits are good for two years and it recently expired without me ever using it because my mom wouldn't take me driving (you have to have 20 hours driving with a parent/legal guardian before drivers ed). I recently took the test again so I have another permit. I'm now 20 and extremely fed up that my mom still won't allow me to drive... It's really sad when my mom has to drive me to work/hang out with friends. Whenever I bring up getting my license she gets really mad at me! I think a license is a necessity for most people and I HATE not having it!

From what I understand, my insurance company (State Farm) will pay for my repairs and then sue the uninsured driver. Is that correct? What I’d also like to know is if Uninsured moterist insurance cover a rental car until a settlement is reached. I have no other car do drive, so I have to have something to get to work in. I think that since the other lady hit my car, my insurance company should have her pay for a rental. Am I correct? I’ve never been in this situation before, and am very very new to all of this. I’ll be calling my insurance agent tomorrow, but I wanted to see if anyone here could help or tell me what to expect. Thank you!

  • Rental car?

I have a question about renting a car, there’s some lady that needs to be driven around and she said she will rent a car for me and to send my address so they can drop it off. Will they ask for anything ? I’m only 19 years old , so would that be a problem .

  • Can I teach myself how to drive?

I’m 22 and I have a decent amount of money to buy a car. I have tried driving a few times. I don’t want to get driving instructions. If I have a licensed driver in the car and I just practice, is that good enough?

Do you think the car dealership will still give me a loan? I’d like to do this now because it’s already summer time and a car like this would be best driven during the summer. I probably won’t mind the high interest rate either. But I definitely need this car since it’s my dream car that I have been saving up for. I’m also a hard worker so I’m certain that I can make these monthly payments including the insurance.

  • If you move to a state for just a few months, do you have to get a new drivers license if you plan on driving?

A few years ago my mom got into trouble for driving with no license in Georgia. They put her in jail and probation. I have a license, but it's not a georgia license, can I get into trouble if I don't get a new license? I'll only be there for a few months.
