I am going into my 8th grade year and have played since 5th grade. I'm a starter and play post. I really love my team and the coach but basketball isn't really in my heart anymore. The high school coaches always tell me they're looking forward to me playing for high school, but I don't really want to play. I also play volleyball and cheer, and cheer and basketball run into each other a lot. I am pretty good at volleyball, and my parents are always talking to me about getting a scholarship for basketball, but I want a scholarship for volleyball more than anything. I want to quit basketball and really focus on volleyball, but I don't want to make the coaches, the team, or my parents mad. My dad is constantly getting on me about practicing basketball outside of practice, but when it comes to volleyball, just tells me that what we do in practice is fine and doesn't push me to practice outside of school practice. I really love volleyball WAY more than basketball, but I feel like I'm playing for others, and not myself. I just don't love it anymore :/

My son is 6'10, he plays center. He shoots 42 percent from the field and has a 0.33 3 point percentage. He averages 27 points, 2 assists, 15 rebounds, 2.3 blocks per game. He's outscoring people 3 years older than him and has a small public profile. This is for a junior English team but several American agents have shown interest in our son and we are hoping to make it to the NBA draft one day! However, last month he was arrested for animal cruelty. A farmer discovered mutilated limbs of dogs, cats, frogs etc. hidden away in his shed. My son admitted to doing this because he was stressed and it helped him calm down. It's now public knowledge and I'm afraid it'll effect his basketball career. If we make it clear to agents/sources that he is in therapy will he be allowed to play ball?

  • Is a 7 point play possible in basketball?

Best answer: Well it's not a "7 point play" cause that's technically two plays, but yeah, that's possible but very very unlikely to happen unless every player on the floor actually wants it to happen

Best answer: Lebron, it's really not even close. Lebron was the more efficient scorer, better overall defender, way better passer, and has significantly more impressive individual accolades.

As far as scoring goes, it's a comparison of quantity vs very slightly less quantity but much more quality. Kobe averaged a few more PPG in his prime, but his career high in FG% was 46.9%. Lebron's career low (not counting his rookie season) was 47.2%. Going a bit more in depth, Kobe's TS% in his prime fluctuated between 55% and 58%, above average, but nothing special. Lebron was sometimes in the same boat as Kobe in the ~55%, but he got his at times as high as 65%. I can't really communicate how much better that is than anything Kobe has ever done. Kobe scored more, Lebron scored better.

Similarly, on defense, Kobe had a well deserved reputation as a fantastic lock down defender, but his defense steadily decreased as his career wore on, and was completely gone by the time he finally had his injury. Lebron was never quite the on ball defender Kobe was, but his defensive versatility made up for it, almost winning Defensive Player of the Year in 2013. It also goes to show how inconsistent Kobe was on the defensive end. People often complain about Lebron's defensive effort, but it far exceeds Kobe's over the course of their respective careers.

Of course, even if you think those two categories are close, passing isn't. Lebron is one of the best passers in the league, Kobe thought of passing as a last resort.

The main argument Kobe supposedly has is rings. That ignores that Kobe won 3 of his rings as the second best player on his team, evidenced by Lebron having more Finals MVP awards. It ignores Lebron has 4 MVP awards to Kobe's 1. And it ignores a season can be valuable to a player's career even if you don't win the championship. It's a bit of a read, but this is a fantastic statistical analysis of historical playoff contributions that shows (first of all, Tim Duncan is underrated as ****, but mostly) even with less rings, Lebron contributed way more in the playoffs than Kobe did:
