• Do You Agree that Harold Baines Belongs in the Baseball Hall of Fame?

He was just voted in by the committee responsible for Today's Game Era. It surprised the heck out of me, but Welcome to the Hall, Harold!

  • Should the Padres sign either Machado or Harper?

Best answer: San Diego's payroll for 2019 is projected at just over $52M. Signing Harper or Machado would mean increasing the payroll by a minimum of 60% with nothing really to show for it. Neither player will turn the club into an instant contender. Neither player is the kind of player fans flock to the ballpark to see so there isn't even a monetary incentive to sign them.
Add to that the fact that Petco Park consistently ranks near the bottom in run production and batting average and neither player will be interested in playing there.

  • Do you think that someday the Giants and the Dodgers could go back to being franchises in New York?

And if this were to happen to you would that be a surprise? I ask this because, since I started studying baseball history, I find it very sad that the Dodgers and Giants went to California in the 1950s.

Ruth was bigger than the game. Bonds' enormous head was bigger than the game but he wasn't half the player, or man, that Ruth was.
