Best answer: That sounds fairly typical to me? Most 5th grade teachers wouldn't give the work in this way since most 10-12year olds don't have the time management skills yet to budget time over the course of several days.

How long do the math worksheets usually take her? The reading? The spelling exercises? If any of these takes longer than about 20 minutes individually (with her really focusing), than it could be an indication that she isn't properly understanding the material.

My suggestion would be to talk to your daughter about how she wants to budget her time. Coach her through the process. Sit down with her calendar and figure out together when she's going to work on each piece. What does she do after school? Does she come home? Does she go to an after school program? It might be helpful to talk to whoever is supervising her during that time to make sure they know about her homework plan and can help her stick to it.

As far as the science reading goes, that might be a good bedtime activity. You can read to her or she can read to you 6-7 pages a night. Before you start, she can recap what happened in the previous part to review. Make it silly. Make whale noises or electricity noises or other relevant sound effects. Talk about "what if the earth was made of sugar?" or "what if bugs were the size of bears?" Watch cool youtube videos about the topic together.

The best way to handle homework is to help her take charge of her plan, and then integrate the work into your time together. She can do math problems while you're cooking dinner. You can make up silly sentences together with her spelling words while the two of you are driving somewhere.

    Good luck!

  • Weren't black people in Africa starving way before imperialism started?

Best answer: I'm sure not all of them. Be realistic, but I do not think that Imperialism is the
cause of their modern day problems. Many other countries have gone through
war and destruction and would have rebuilt themselves 3 times over by now.

In my class we have to respond to a forum and it's worth 20 points. There's 5 questions and you have to pick one to respond to. The question I picked was *Author's name* explained what *topic* means to her. What does *topic* mean to you and how can you bring it to your classroom? (This is an education class). So I wrote my answer and she gave me 5/20 points because she said my post was weak and I didn't reference the article at all and didn't give a citation. just don't understand how i was supposed to reference the article when the question asked what it meant to me and what I would do.. citation is only worth 2 points so just because I didn't refer to the article at all... 20-2 for no citation would have been 18/20. But then that's another 13 points I got taken off for not making a reference to the article. I feel like I answered what the question was asking... what it mean to me and what I would do... and I still only got 5 points. I just feel like I shouldn't have even done the response at all. Should I talk to my teacher about it?
