  • Is it okay to describe what the music director/violinist is wearing, in my music concert review?

I described that she is wearing a long dress that is strapped and black (just at the beginning, to kind of add to how the evening starts). I don't exactly describe it as how it's state above, but I don't want to put the actual statement I use. It's definitely something along the lines of that,... show more

  • Is it hard transitioning from violin to cello?

Best answer: I'd be really surprised if it were easy. However, your body already knows some things about bowing and the other mechanics of string playing, so it would probably be easier for you than for a total beginner.

  • Is a fiddle a violin?

I heard this somewhere wanted to make sure. I’m trying to find a new instrument to play folk and Celtic like music with. I saw fiddle was an option. Could I just buy a violin or does it have to be one called a fiddle?

  • Piano or Violin?

Well technically it would be a keyboard as I do not have room for an actual piano (wish i did even though the one I like is over 3k). I love them both (I love every instrument really) but I can not decide which one...they are both with in the price range. I have wanted to play both since I was a kid so... show more

(yes on another question it was the saxophone but to get a good brand I would have to sell everything I own as well as work, in the future though I will as I would hopefully have enough money then...she says....and yeah I pretty much wanted to play every instrument since I was 6/7)

Some kids had started singing or playing an instrument when they were in 4th grade - others did not start ( or were starting a second instrument, or restarting one they had quit in elementary school) when they were in 8th, 9th, 10th grade or later! You are doing this for YOU - and since you have an instrument, will have a degreed, certified, qualified teacher in your school - GRAB THE OPPORTUNITY!! Do not be hard on yourself if you do not like they way you sound at first - that just means you have heard good playing, and have high standards - to which you aspire! As a professional flutist, I still listen to recordings of many other fine players - because they are an inspiration to me to keep working, always. Lucky, lucky, lucky you that you have this chance - so take it!

  • What orchestral stringed instrument should I learn to play?

Best answer: On the basis of your height, I assume small hands, which I feel probably rules out a full-size cello, but a 1/2 or 3/4 size (25.5" or 27" body) should be very feasible.  The sound difference between the 3/4 and full size is negligible.  All things considered, though, the viola is easier.
