Best answer: I have seen every episode! Was funny watching little Sophia try to boss around big tall Dorothy.

Dorothy was the only sane one though she had a competitive streak and struggled with smoking and gambling.

They used to get fan mail from teenage girls who wanted to come live with them!

The kitchen design was based on designs from other sitcoms. For balance, they always had tall Dorothy sit in the middle.

They always ate cheesecake, usually while tackling some crisis or dilemma. And Bea Arthur hated cheesecake!

Didn't you just love their fights?

Betty White and Bea Arthur never got along. Betty said she thought it was because of her eternal cheerfulness. We will never know... Bea had a reputation of being difficult.

Rue and Betty almost played each other's roles. At the last minute, Rue read the part of Blanche and fell in love with the character. The producers were very reluctant to allow the switch. What a mistake it would have been to forbid the switch.

Estelle Getty was only in her 40s when she played Sophia. What a difference wardrobe and aging makeup made!

The pilot had a gay cook who was let go to make room for Sophia.

Sophia insulted Dorothy at every opportunity! She could zing all of them but Dorothy was her favorite target!

Sophia's catch phrase was "Picture it.." Usually always Sicily

Rose's was "Back in Saint Olaf."

Rose was terminally naïve. The subtext of everything went over her head. But she loved people and wanted only to be loved back.

The short lived spinoff, Golden Palace was short-lived. It saw the end of super couple Miles and Rose when he found a stewardess on a flight. Rose watched them get married. The ladies minus Dorothy bought a hotel in downtown Miami. Betty said it was like a three legged stool minus Bea, who made a guest appearance.

The ladies were invited to do a Special Command Performance for Queen Elizabeth.

Betty is the only survivor of the cast.

What an ensemble: charming self centered, narcissist southern belle man hungry Blanche Hiollingsworth Deveraux,

Earth mother, piano playing animal loving, Saint Olaf story spinning widow Rose Nylund

no nonsense divorced sub teacher Dorothy Patrillo Zbornak Hollingsworth

wisecracking diminutive loud mouthed octogenarian Shady Pines fearing Sophia Patrillo Winestock who was always feuding with her sister Angela played by Nancy Walker

Speaking of their last names, in one episode, Blanche's middle name was Marie. In another, it was Elizabeth. Whoops!

The finale made me cry. They decided one of them would leave. After 7 seasons, Bea volunteered to have Dorothy leave. An end to one of NBC's biggest runaway hits, ever!

  • Y keep cosby show on but cancel roseanne? Double standards?

Best answer: Yes, exactly. TV Land has even removed their vintage 'Roseanne' reruns. But, you will notice that Cosby is mainly still aired on the ethnic TV stations. They continue to believe in his 'innocence,' much like his deluded wife.

Best answer: Roseanne Barr was doomed the second she publicly supported President Trump because ABC is a LIBERAL PROPAGANDIST / PRO-GAY SUPPORTIVE MEDIA OUTLET; execs at ABC didn't have to wait long for a reason to shut down the Roseanne reboot.

And get this: ABC is defiantly covering up the stinging backlash they're REALLY getting from their decision to cancel Roseanne ( 2018 ), in a poor effort at saving face--they're also about to "fully push forward" their pro-LBTGQ 'new normal' campaign, by airing pro gay life spots......like the Las Vegas tourism board promotion---where lesbians get married in Vegas.

But my screenwriter friends with ABC all say the same thing: ABC "hit the iceberg"---and the water's rushing in fast.

Best answer: No, I wouldn't watch a "Roseanne" show without Rosanne Barr. While some of the characters are likeable, many are not. But, in any case, all of them were created specifically for Rosanne's central character to interact with and respond to. "Darlene", for example, is a very bland role (at least as portrayed by Sarah Gilbert). Her overtly cynical attitude and the tone in which she deliverers her lines, they are all to set up jokes or poignant responses from Roseanne. The same is true for "Becky", "Jackie" "D.J" and the others. Inciting a reaction from Roseanne is the dynamic of the entire series. All of the characters do it, including "Dan". John Goodman is a wonderful actor but even his well-liked character is not the stand-alone variety. "Dan's" effectiveness depends on his zinger-filled relationship with Roseanne It cannot carry a series as is. Whether alone or as part of the same ensemble, IMO, none of the characters can survive in a project separate from Roseanne Barr.

  • Would it be hypocritical for TBS to fire Samantha Bee when they were at fault by letting her comment air?

Best answer: If Sam Bee using one such word on her show was a firing offense, then the dozens of times that The Cheeto used such words in public would be an impeachable offense.

Hypocrisy, you only need three letters to spell it out: GOP.

Hey, I want to know about tv shows where there are child main characters that get kidnapped all the time. I just love how their parent, sibling, or guardian does anything to get them back. I also love old tv shows like westerns, but anything will do! Thanks!

  • What makes MASH so special?

Best answer: It balanced dramatic and emotional content with zany silliness. It was funny, but poignant at times. Usually when people try to combine the height of pathos and comedy, you get a disaster, but MASH did it expertly.

  • Do you think Roseanne will learn anything from this latest thing she did?

I'm fine with ABC cancelling the show. Roseanne's tweet was racist. But I feel sad that so many innocents were hurt by her stupidity. What about Dan Goodman, Sara Gilbert, Laurie Metcalf and the rest of the cast? All harmed because Roseanne had to be an idiot!
