  • Pet Problems....?

Ok, I really want another pet. A guinea pig to be specific, but I don't know how to convince my parents to get me one. I would pay for it and take care of it. I also am going to do research on everything I should know to be able to take care of them. I feel like I should mention we have a dog (puggle, and adorable) who is a bit of a hunter. The problem that keeps coming up is that we do go on vacation a lot ( for extended periods of time), and would I actually take care of it, because my mom does must of the grunt work to take care of our dog. ( I do help though) I really love animals and just want a loving companion that is entirely my own. Any suggestions? Also I am 14 and a half years old.

Ive had my rats for a year now, and at first I took care of them how any rat owner should. I cleaned their cage every 3 days and gave them fresh food every other day and I gave them attention for AT LEAST 10 minutes every day. However, things happened in my life that made me mental health really sh*t and I started neglecting them. Im a terrible owner now and I admit that. at most i will clean their cage once every 2 weeks and I have been unemployed for a while now and don't have the money to buy them what they need, so ive been getting my sister to buy them food. I hate that i'm neglecting them but I feel like theres a wall stopping me from taking care of them, and I can't even look after myself either. Please if anyone could tell me where I could go to give them a better life i'd love that. I can't take care of them and I don't give them any attention anymore. It has been a hard decision for me because I know they are too old for anyone to rehome them but I don't know where to go.

  • True/false: the messier the room is, the more likely it is that a mouse would enjoy staying there?

Best answer: Actually false, only 5 things will provide a perfect life for a mouse, they can be as attracted to a clean orderly place as much as a very messy cluttered unkempt room if those 5 things are met. 1>finding food--the more, the better, nothing more than they would be comfortable with and not want. 2> a safe home-... show more

1>finding food--the more, the better, nothing more than they would be comfortable with and not want.
2> a safe home- places to nest and hide, no worries of predators or threat, room for all the enrichment they desire.
3>companionship. mice are very social, live in small groups.
4> acceptance. Mice need to feel accepted in their social realm, rejected, they go to a quiet corner and die.
5>approval. the pride they get for being smart and earning all the above they find.
It is animal behavior and instinct, there are a great many animals that are the same, elephants, horses, wolves, all but a couple rodents, most marsupials, whales, Any animal that lives in a social hierarchy, even humans.

Since I got them, they seem to get along very well, sleep together, play with the bedding, etc. But recently, one hamster has been squeaking A LOT at night, but ONLY at night for hours.. (maybe 3 hours?) he isn’t sleeping or dreaming.. he is well awake and running around the cage like crazy. During the day, they are both back to normal... naps together, eat together, etc. They aren’t fighting, or touching, they have their space. he just runs around and squeak every two seconds... I can’t seem to figure out why. He isn’t hurt or look sick, they have PLENTY of food, water, bedding. Should I bring to the vet? (65$ +tax), I don’t feel like going to the vet to be told that he has nothing and he does have something serious.. because they are very quiet during the day. Thank you (sorry for bad English)

  • Will my guinea pig chill out if i get him high?

Best answer: Animals will react differently to inhaling marijuana smoke based on an individual basis. For example: my dog hates marijuana so therefore he chooses to not get high. My mother in law's dog loves it and he chomps at the bit to get high. Then he becomes extremely relaxed.

So my apartment has had a mouse problem for a a few months now other people have complained about it so I know it’s not just me. I personally don’t mind them I actually think they’re kinda cute. I don’t mind seeing it run across my floor at night although I don’t necessarily want it to come to close to me as I know they’re known to spread disease. But about 10 minutes ago something I thought never happens happened to me. About 40 minutes ago I felt tired so I closed my eyes and ended up taking a 20-30 minute nap. When I woke up I felt movement on my leg and a mouse was on top of me I yelled because it startled me and shook my leg and it ran away. The way mice run away from you the second you get even remotely close to them made me think this sort of thing just doesn’t happen but apparently it does. Is this extremely rare or more common then you’d expect?

Neither paid any attention to the other since there was plenty of food to go around.
