Best answer: I think it would be a great idea to elect him.

Firstly, even if you happened to disagree with him, you have to at least admit that he is actually an honest person and do exactly what he says he would unlike any other president.

Second, to all you people claiming he will take your money, he specifically said he will only give a tax increase to people who make $10 million a year or more. I think a 73% tax on them is pretty reasonable, making more than $3 million a year is a lot more than enough.

I'm sorry to break this to you but not everyone has an equal opportunity in education and life. People can't get a full education because they can't afford college, crippling them for life. These people are dying because trillion dollar industries cannot make enough money off of them. Why not give them the smallest we can possibly give, just tuition-free college and universal health care like every other civilized country in the world does? If you don't want to help these people, or raise the employment rate, you're welcome to disagree with me.

Yes, socialism does work, a lot of dictatorial socialism gives it a bad name but we are talking about democratic socialism. Almost every other democratic country in the world has a socialist party, and only in America's so-called "democracy" are we not given that option most of the time. Look at countries such as Germany, France, and England where socialist parties are frequently elected. They're doing much better than us, right? (Don't even bring up Greece, if you think Greece's socialist party caused the problems there, you have no idea about what you're talking about.)

Hundreds of economists claim he will save us trillions of dollars, and look at the huge military budget. So it's quite obviously not true that he will put our country in debt.

Inflation starting from lowest paid workers will stimulate our economy as well, any economist will tell you that.

So in conclusion, Bernie will save our country from all of our problems and not cause any of these problems that people claim he will. They just pull those "facts" straight out of the establishment, remember the establishment is run by billionaires so they're not going to like Bernie. But obviously that doesn't make him the slightest bit bad.

Best answer: I guess this isn't really a conservative TROLL question, but it sure reads like one -- at least till we reach the fine print.

Whether it's "dumb" to oppose taxes depends enormously on which taxes we're talking about, who needs to pay these taxes, and how the government uses the revenues they generate. IMO, it's not "dumb" for people to hate some taxes, though it would be foolish to hate all of them --not unless you're an extreme left-wing anarchist or rightwing libertarian.

To answer an over-simplified question, I believe most people are against taxes that apply to us, rather than to other people.

Some people are against specific taxes because they think they're grossly unfair in some larger sense.

Some conservative Republicans -- as I once briefly flirted with being, long ago -- also cite economic research that shows some taxes are counter-productive, that they don't promote the goals they're pretending to support.

As a democratic socialist today, I personally think some taxes are absolutely necessary for the existence of a civilized society. But I also think that many taxes, such as sales taxes, unfairly take money from the poor and give it to the rich. And I agree with libertarians who don't like tax moneys going to support massive government spying on individuals.

I also agree with many liberal pacifists -- although I'm not a complete pacifist -- who are horrified at how much of our tax money is going to support stupid and often immoral wars.

In general, I don't think it's useful to talk about taxes in general. (Yes, a little joke!) As the medieval Catholic theologians used to say, "God and the Devil are in the details."

  • Will you vote for Bernie Sanders?

Best answer: So far, I would. He is independent, thoughtful and honest. Hillary on the other hand is influenced by big business donators, calculating and deceitful. Hillary is just clearly wrong, Bernie is not perfect but at least you know where he really stands. Hillary is just wrong on so many levels.
