My 21 year old daughter has been dating a black guy for almost year. Since she first started dating this guy, I pretended to be happy for her. I am now at the point where I am tired of hiding my disapproval of this relationship. I just don't feel right about interracial dating. I feel like people should embrace their heritage and date within their race. That's just my perspective, and that's the perspective I raised my daughter to have, and for her to go against what I taught her, makes me angry.
Now they seem really happy together, but I just don't know what my daughter sees in this guy. While he does have a college degree and is employed as a surgical technician, he's very quiet and from my personal observation, seems like he's capable of violence like most blacks.
Should I express my disapproval of this to my daughter? Does this me racist? I really don't consider myself a racist person. I've had black friends.
