By the time Halloween rolls around this year, I'll be 14. My family and I have always been super invested in Halloween, planning our costumes and decorations months before to make sure everything is perfect. Our costumes are almost always the best of the bunch, with me and my mum busting out our sketchbooks and sewing skills to make original costumes, and my dad going the extra mile to make sure our 100-year-old house is the scariest in town (which isn't hard considering it's pretty scary as it is). However as I'm a freshman in High school and some of my friends are starting to ditch the costumes I've had one question on my mind. "How old is too old to go trick-or-treating?". I've always looked older than I am, my body and face developed much earlier than my classmates and have looked like a 16-17 year old since I was 11-12 Years old (not really fair, I know) and some people questioned me last year about it. A man even tried to escort me off his property because he though I was lying about my age, which left me crying on the way home since we traveled to another neighborhood to see my friends. So am I getting too old to trick-or-treat?

But I'd have adult Halloween parties rather than go trick or treating. Why? Because the houses you trick at might feel a bit uneasy and intimidated by grown-ups at their door...especially when there are presumably also kids around.

  • Can I dress as an adult baby for a Halloween party?

I do not have a fetish it is purely for fun. I'm planning to wear a onesie, put my hair in pigtails and get a dummy/pacifier. Scared people will think I have some weird fetish.

  • Should a Christian celebrate Halloween?

Best answer: up to your beliefs, but it certainly doesnt have to be satanic, and the origins were not based in satanic ritual.

You can also look through thrift or second hand stores for the dress. Here's what you need if you want to make it.

Sewing is not necessary. Search fabric stores or even Amazon for stitch witchery. I use it all the time because I can't sew, either. Actually, since I'm on Amazon, they do have some inexpensive light blue dresses if you browse around. With a black headband and white tights, you'll have the costume right there. Good luck!

Best answer: The idea of Halloween and dressing up in costume to do trick-or-treat is to have fun and get sweets (treat)---maybe even sing a song or tell a joke (trick)---and that never grows old really. There are sometimes organized events for older kids that make it easier to participate with same-aged peers. Look for events in your town or community that might be more appealing to a 12-year-old, maybe at a teen center or YMCA or something organized by the town's merchants. In our small town, the merchants on Main Street have an evening of sidewalk trick-or-treating and a best-costume contest for each age group.

Another way to participate for your sister and you might be to dress up and hand out treats for the youngsters who come to your door, or even to set up a "scare" for them. One street I loved when my daughter was little had their son dressed up like Frankenstein and pose as a statue, only to move once the treats were handed out. One family set up a fake grave with headstone and two shoes sticking up, and they shrouded their hallway in white sheets while asking the trick-or-treaters to perform tricks...and their older kids popped up from behind the white sheets.

  • What do atheists think of halloween?

Best answer: I love Halloween. It's the only holiday with any valid purpose--celebrating horror, along with all of your favorite fiction, and scaring the crap out of people.

  • Do you think this would be scary/add to the creepiness of a haunted house?

Best answer: Why not find some creepy Christmas music to record? Any keyboardist can do that for you... adding minor chords to the music, or ending each phrase with conflicting harmonies, etc.

  • Are you looking forward to Halloween? What are you going to dress up as?

Best answer: Yes, love Halloween. Looking forward to all the fun activities throughout October.

No idea about my costume yet but unless I am going to a party or something I will probably just wear one of my old ones.

  • Are you ever too old for trick or treating?

Best answer: You're never too old as long as you are courteous and respectful of the younger children.
At your age, if you were my daughter, I would ask you to find one or two younger children and to take them around. That way, you still get to trick or treat, but don't appear greedy.
