I m a first-time mom. My baby is almost 7 weeks old and has been with us since she was 5 days old. We are in the process of adopting and according to the social worker s reports, she was born with marijuana and possibly heroin in her system, but hasn t had any real issues up to this point. She didn t shake and cry a lot, suffering withdrawal symptoms or anything like that, so her doctor said that we are lucky, only trace amounts in her system. Everything has been perfect up to this point. Feeding, changing, sleeping. Clockwork. For the past couple of days though, she seems to really have trouble at mealtimes. When I first give her the bottle, everything is fine and she eats with gusto. Then it s like a switch flips. She gets distracted, looking at everything. Gets really fidgety, flailing her arms, opening and closing her hands, kicking. I stop, try to burp her and bring her attention back to eating and, again, she latches beautifully and starts to eat... then it begins again. Most of the time, its just the first 2 ounces and then she calms down enough to eat the other 2. She isn t afraid of the bottle and I m almost certain Im not over-feeding her. I wait til she cries for it. (Every 3.5 - 4 hours). Does she need to see a feeding specialist or will this resolve on its own? Should I be worried? Could she possibly be displaying early symptoms of autism or some other issue as a result of the drugs she was subjected to during pregnancy? Is it normal and I m just over-reacting?

  • Baby has bumps with red rings on her legs !?

Baby has bumps with red rings on her legs !?

She had a vaccine on her left leg but she developed what appear to be bumps with a ring around it on both legs 10 days later. (Two have already disappeared). Are these bug bites or something associated within the vaccine? (The vaccine was almost two weeks ago)

I tried asking Google but the only thing that came up was things like “is your baby too old to see a pediatrician?” I even tried to rephrase the question. When I was being released from the hospital after giving birth, the nurse told my father and I that I couldn’t sign myself out because I wasn’t 18 yet, but that I had to sign my daughter out because she was mine.

Eventually when she started school she learned to interact with other children. You know what her job is now? Community outreach. She regularly gives presentations for her company to total strangers and makes contacts with potential clients.

PLEASE stop labeling your son's unique *smart* behavior as "wrong".

Invite another mom and child about his age to your home. Our daughter did much better one on one with friends as it was easier to predict what they would do. At 18 months children don't really play with others, but he can start playing alongside.

so my family is putting the pressure on me to have them so my parents can have grandchildren. But they know I have endometriosis and have problems with my uterus. and the specialist told me it may be difficult for me to conceive or even birth children. I've struggled with it for a long time (a man has even turned me down because I may not be able to have children) and now family is putting even more pressure on me. How do I deal with all of it? I know my sister is having a hard time right now, but i don't appreciate the pressure they're putting on me.
