Best answer: People have tested old processors, they do not slow down with age.

If you've been overheating them they can take damage and get slower, same thing with the motherboards, they can become less reliable the more heat they have to put up with. The computer can also slow down an overheating CPU to prevent it from taking damage.

Or more likely your computer is being slowed down with clutter, spam, adware, etc. Everybody that's brought me a computer complaining that it is slow always has it full of malware and junk that doesn't need to be on it. Look in Task Manager to see what the CPU load is when you're not running anything on it, it should only be a couple percent. If it's higher than that then some program is running that shouldn't be and slowing things down.

Or the perceived slowness can be from the hard drive needing defragmented. As the data on the hard drive gets scattered it takes longer to load files. Defragmenting fixes this. Solid State Drives don't need defragmented though.

I recently reformatted my computer and was about to install Windows 10 through Sony s Windows 10 media installation tool (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software... I clicked the "Use the tool to create installation media (USB drive, DVD, or ISO file) to install Windows 10 on a different PC" thinking it would create a sub-folder or some sort within my hard drive. However, it appeared that it wiped all of the previous data stored into my hard drive and modified my hard drive to become... a Windows 10 installation tool... I searched online on how to restore this and one answer I came across was to go to Disk Management by pressing Window Key + X and deleting the ESU-USB partition, so I did that. It didn t solve the problem. Now, I do not see my external hard drive popping up under "My Computer" and I still cannot recover my files. My computer is still able to read the external hard drive. An icon shows up when I open my Devices and Printers page under Settings and it shows up under Disk Management. However, it shows up as 1863 GB of unallocated space. Is there anything I can do for me to be able to recover my files and have the external hard drive running as usual?

I was hoping for some advice on what to get to put together a kit for him that he can grab easily and treat like one of those old fashioned doctor's bags when he goes to fix something. I've found a few pre-made kits on Amazon for computer repair, but none of them include the various cables for connecting his tablet to other devices. I hope this makes sense.
