  • Do I need to buy a laptop for University or College?

Best answer: You do if you want to be able to do your work from your dorm room/apartment/home - wherever you will be living while in school - else you will always have to go to the library to do your work, unless you are taking a desktop to school with you.

I took mine to class and used it to take notes. Most of us did this, although there were certainly a few who still liked the way of using a pen/pencil to take notes. Some also used iPads. How you take notes is totally up to you, however.

Sometimes I had work to do between classes - when I had a big gap between one class ended and another started - and it was handy having my laptop available to use rather than having to wait to get back home to do it.

Sometimes I used mine to review notes before class, or a test.

Sometimes there were library references I needed that I couldn't check out (because the library wouldn't allow that particular item to be checked out) or sometimes I just didn't want to check it out, so I used my laptop to type the info into.

So as you see from my examples, the portability factor was key for me - being able to take my work with me and use anywhere. I can't say if this will apply to you, obviously, since I don't know what your needs are. These are just examples of how you might need a laptop for you to think over.

Ultimately it honestly depends a lot on you. But I think if you don't get one before starting school, that after you get there you will find down the road that you wish you had bought one.

But then I leave the laptop be until it goes on standby and the power button is flashing. Then, I press it and the laptop comes back on and it's no longer running at 100 and works fine, but this is the only way to get it working normally. If I just turn it on and try to use it like I said it's useless and takes like 30 minutes to open up anything. This is after completely reformatting it. Beforehand it wouldn't work at all no matter what I did and would take an hour to turn on. It's an old HP laptop. Any suggestions? I know nothing about laptops. It does over heat and the battery is garbage. It has to stay plugged in or it turns off. If you need anymore details let me know and I'll leave a comment, just be sure to watch out for my comment if you can since we don't get notified of comments on here. I'll also try to add answers to questions in an edit on this post. Thanks in advance.

  • Computer Processor?

Best answer: It's pretty good for a laptop:
    https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu...

A generally good CPU and decent graphics, OK for basic gaming.

(And I'd never advise anyone to get Intel - for any given budget, AMD is usually better, even before the "Meltdown" intel cpu bug surfaced).

Hello. I'm 17 and just about to go to university, so I'm in need of a new laptop. I'll be studying English literature so there's going to be a lot of typing for me (idk if this is useful information) To be honest with you I don't really use my laptop so I don't know what features I'll need. Other than doing school work and watching movies, I do everything else on my phone instead of laptop. I also use it to download torrents (movies, music etc) so I need 8 or 16 GB RAM. Now as of the Mac, Windows or Chrome OS concept, I've no clue, I've only ever used windows so far, though I'm willing to try the other two. For the screen, I don't want it to be too big, cause I need it to be portable, but not too small so I guess a 12.5 to 14-inch screen will be Ok? Plus a large battery life (8+ hours). Also, I've heard about those 2-in-1 laptop-tablets, and it looks pretty convenient. What do you think? As of budget I can't go over 1000€ . Give me your opinions. What laptop should i get ? Or what features do i need? Please help. Thank you

Best answer: There is a lot of areas you can freelance in which can make you $5,000 a month, or more. The best ones to make money on are the ones were your efforts directly impacts the clients results.

Here are just a few ideas:

Conversion optimisation specialist. Working on improving the conversion rate on websites. Small changes can radically increase earnings.
Google Adwords specialist. Setting up and managing Adwords campaigns. Competitive field, but you can stand out by also improving landing pages which will increase your earnings.
Growth Hacker. A term which is very much in the wind. Requires a lot of learning. If you are good, you might also get a nice team.
Personally, I make more than $5,000 mainly using my laptop working with digital marketing. I do it as well as teach it on the side to get an additional promotion.
