Word is not nearly as hard as Excel because there are no formulas etc to comprehend like Excel has. It too is available via online free courses.

Books are good too but I believe books are really best used to supplement your knowledge rather than be the sole source of your information. A lot of these type of books tend to expect the user to understand a lot more than they really do which makes it's hard to learn. What we do at my company is send our employees to Word and Excel classes (they are one day long) and then buy them a book to have at their desk to use as a resource to supplement their knowledge.

The whole thing comes down to whether you are good at self-teaching because if you aren't it's going to be a struggle and if so then a classroom setting would be best for you. A teacher will help you see just how easy both of these programs are.

Best answer: AVI files are generally large video files, and so when you send these, some email servers will reject them because they have a limit on how big an attachment you are allowed to send. And sending the shortcut is useless. What that does is sends a link to the path on YOUR computer to the instructor. So if they click on that, it's going to try and go back to your PC and won't have any rights to get there.

There are a couple of solutions you can try:

    1) Install Google Drive on your PC (or something like it). This is a free cloud-based storage area that you can use to store documents, mp3s, and videos that you may want to access from anywhere, not just from your PC or laptop. Once installed, you can copy the AVI files into a folder on the Google virtual drive, then you just send the "Share Files" link to the instructor, and they'll be able to access your contents. You can give other people access to just one file, or to an entire folder.

    2) If you don't want to install an app like Google Drive, then you have to figure out a way to make the files that you are sending to the instructor smaller. AVI files can be quite big. Try converting them into a different format. For example, if you try to switch from AVI to MPG, it may produce a smaller file that will be accepted by the email service. The smallest files are produced by something called RealMedia (they have a .rm suffix), but most people don't always have the RealPlayer software installed, so your instructor may have an issue with that type of file.
