• 2005 Chrysler Sebring vs 2005 Dodge Neon SXT? Which runs better and is more reliable? (Experienced car owners only)?

I am going to purchase my first car pretty soon and I wanted to know which car would be a better choice. While the dodge would save a couple hundred dollars I hear that the Chrysler runs smoother and is more reliable. What’s your take?

  • Are Dodge vehicles actually unreliable?

Best answer: There are lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics. Statistics: Car make A is 99% reliable, car make B is 98% reliable. Nearly same reliable. Flip it: make A has 1% problems, make B has 2% problems. OMG!! Make B is twice worse than make A. See? The statistics will say that Dodges are horribly bad, when they are... show more

  • How can I get better gas mileage out of my truck? Currently getting 8.5ish normal for my truck is 15ish?

Best answer: a) Be sure it is fully tuned up with no mechanical issues. Be sure you have clean filters. Best answer: a) Be sure it is fully tuned up with no mechanical issues. Be sure you have clean filters. Injector troubles are common in older Cummins diesels, either injector pressure or solenoid issues. Clean or replace the MAF / MAP sensors. Be sure it's not running too hot or cold as that effects mileage too. Simply changing the thermostat could help.

    b) Modify your driving habits. Do less city driving and more highway driving with less stops and starts. Make fewer unnecessary short trips. An engine that doesn't run long enough to get up to normal temperature runs richer. Also accelerate slower, driver at a lower cruising speed, and decelerate more often with foot off the throttle instead of using brakes so much.

    c) Keep your tires fully inflated or a tad over inflated and be sure they are properly aligned. Check for brake drag too.

    d). Don't carry unnecessary weight.

    e) Purchase higher quality fuel. That alone can influence mileage by 10%.

    f) Wider tires / heavier off-road tire tread than OEM standard can reduce mileage by up to 1.5 mpg.

    g) Sell it and buy a more efficient vehicle.

  • Why did Ford discontinue the Ford Durango coupe utility in the 80's?

Best answer: It did not sell well. If a company is not making money on a product, they ditch it.

  • I was just charged $392 to have my oil pressure switch replaced at an auto service center (PB) for a 2013 Dodge Caravan. Is this too much?

Best answer: That sensor is under the intake manifold. The labor is a few hours because of that. A skilled mechanic can sneak it out without removing the manifold. A lesser mechanic takes off the manifold. The price stays the same regardless. Mechanics get paid on a system that does not relate to real time. If they find a faster way they score, if it takes them too long they lose. The pay remains the same so they don't reduce the price because they have skills just as nobody pays them more if it takes longer.

You can shop for the sensor itself. It's about $50 without a mark up, not $20.

The bad news is those are a pattern failure. Dodge has redesigned it hopefully fixing it. I've seen parts go thru 4 revisions trying to fix them. Cross your fingers that you got a updated redesigned part and not a copy of the original.

  • Why does my remote start on my 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 start the truck but only stays running for 1-10 seconds?

Best answer: You heard wrong. The check engine light does nothing more than inform you that one of the car's sensors is picking up a reading outside the range that it considers "normal" It will not automatically shut off the car. Its telling you that you should plug in a code reader to see which sensor is out of range so that you can begin to diagnose the root problem.

You also heard wrong regarding the component in question. Its a Catalytic converter.
A "Catalyst" is something that triggers a chain reaction - like a device in your vehicle's exhaust which triggers a chemical reaction so that the air coming out of the tailpipe has less toxic chemical composition.

A "Cadillac" is an overpriced brand of vehicles owned by general motors and marketed mainly toward gang members and elderly.
