Average bacherlors GPA of around 3.7
Taking the MCAT with a percentile score 508
Writing a crap ton of applications (which you would probably not get any interview invites unless you have a crap ton of extracurriculars and healthcare experience)

Interview (if youre lucky): at which point your aspirations would be halted if you have no better reason than money, the admissions committee will send you packing so fast you might have to book another flight home

Med school (if youre really really lucky): its hard as hell and you graduate with around 200,000 dollars of debt

Residency: 3 years, at least. you get paid crap to work 80 hours per week, and barely make payments on your 200,000 dollars debt, and accrue an additional 30,000 dollars of debt per year

YAY YOUREA DOCTOR: PAY OFF YOUR 300,000 + IN LOANS
    YOURE POOR! STILL!

So in short, be a doctor if you have the drive, personality, and passion for the care of others. otherwise find something else.

  • Can an endoscopy be done without the patient being sedated?

Best answer: Yes. I did it with out sedated 25 years ago. The doctor clearly wasn't pleased with my choice. There was no problem.

From what I hear, surgeons get up everyday at 5am and don’t leave the hospitals until about 8pm or so. They have long days and long hours. When will I have time for my family? Or to even make a family since I don’t have one? I also don’t have a girlfriend because I devoted all my early 20s to get into medical school. I worked really hard to be where I am right now.

About 4 years ago I was heavily addicted to opiates. I accidently broke off a needle in my arm while doing an injection. I went to the hospital and after much cutting and digging, the ER doctor stated he could not successfully remove it and I would have to see a specialist. So I made an appointment with a specialist and he told me that the needle could just stay there and eventually my body would just push it out. This has yet to happen and Ive just always had this in the back of my mind since I ve been clean. Will this come back to haunt me later in life or was the doctor correct?
