I recently bought sunflower oil and started cooking it in a pan. After a few minutes, I noticed a terrible smell, and eventually it started smoking. It didn't look like steam; it looked like smoke. Every single smoke alarm in my house went off and I had to put them in a drawer because they wouldn't stop beeping, even after I disabled them. I almost took the batteries out! The point is, I had to quit my cooking and pour it out into the sink. I had to breathe through a damp wash rag because my ENTIRE HOUSE is foggy (even as I'm writing this). Should I be cooking with sunflower oil, or should I be using olive oil? Because the recipe says sunflower oil! Thank you for all your answers.
