Best answer: For a few years now the consensus has been that it's either Roger Federer or Rod Laver who is the greatest player of all time. People who go for Laver base their belief primarily on the fact that he won the Grand Slam twice, the only man or woman in history to do that, and that he won over 200 singles titles in his career (spanning both the Amateur and Professional eras). And to be honest, I found it hard to choose between the two of them myself. However, what Federer has done over the last 12 and a bit months, i.e. winning three Grand Slam titles at 35 going on 36 years of age as well as the Masters series titles in Indian Wells, Miami and Shanghai last year, is completely unprecedented in the history of the men's game by quite some distance. And there's nothing to say he won't win one or two more before he's retired as well. For that reason, I believe there's now no doubt that Federer is the greatest.

  • Can you see anyone beating Nadal at the French Open?

Best answer: He will win number 11. Roger may skip the clay again, just like last year. He will try to get ready for the grass season. So Rafa will have no competition. His biggest problem will be staying healthy.

  • Tennis question?! Only people that know about Tennis history please?

So I've started watching tennis over the past few years so I don't know much really, but I want to expand my knowledge. Mainly, how has the way that tennis is played changed over each decade/era? For example more or less power, speed, finesse shots, baseline positioning, etc.

  • Since Djokovic is Heyon Chung's idol, was his retirement from the semifinals a move straight out of Djokovic's playbook?

Best answer: It's all too easy to say aaah he's losing, retire but he had a bad blister on his foot which is darned painful and this is only the start of a long season. Why risk a severe injury when his pay to date, would be high!! Next time he needs to have better footwear, maybe. Bit of a let-down for the crowd... show more

I don't see it happening v. Cilic, UNLESS Cilic starts to lose.

The fact that she's African-American in a sport that has, at best, had an awkward relationship to blacks doesn't help. She's made some interesting choices as to attire during tournaments that haven't been universally loved. Her father is a reprehensible piece of garbage in a sport known for awful parents. Having said that, Serena Williams belongs on the short list of greatest female tennis players. Period.

And for your other question as to why they didn't close the roof it is because all of the other people on the outside courts were still playing in the heat and it would be unfair towards them if their future competitor was playing in a nice and cool environment while they are out there in very hard conditions, its unfair.

Men play more sets of tennis than women do, and 2. Men bring in a bigger audience than women do (more money).Last year however the do gooders got their wish and female players now get the same cash as males, but they still play less sets of tennis and still bring in less cash than the males do.With all these well publicised career threatening injuries we have seen with Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal etc...Isnt it clear that these extra sets are putting more physical demand on the men, who stand to lose more money long term if they have to quit due to wear on their bodies?Equal pay for women I agree with, but not for less work in any field, be it sport, the office or a construction site.Your views?
