I am fairly new (3 weeks) in a Purchasing role for a small tile company. The person I have replaced was very knowledgeable in this area but is no longer here and we are scrambling. There is a lot of logistics involved that I am not familiar with so the owner of the company, who also does not know much about shipping has asked me to send out PO’s including a message asking if they will consider handling shipping for us. I am just not sure how to word that intellectually  Can someone please help me with a quick line or two asking this and informing the suppliers that we are looking to change the way we handle our shipping? Thanks!

At my retail store, we get customers who sometimes try to scam us with bad returns, so we have to be careful, examining the items for everyone. We never directly accuse them of anything. Instead, we just say, "You're gonna have to take this back to the store you got it from. It's not matching the item in our system and maybe they sold it to you like that." Sometimes, they catch on to the fact that we're on to them about the return and they start yelling and cursing us out saying, "I'M GONNA REPORT YOU TO CORPORATE!" Sometimes they even threaten to call the police. Let's assume in any case that the other stores actually sold any items to them that way, and we actually falsely assumed they were trying to scam us. Could we actually get in trouble?

The truck is $6,850 and is a 2005 model. I'm currently enrolled as a student and looking at a job to do on the side for maybe minimum wage. I'd only be available to work on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays so I need to know if it's possible for a dude like me whose never even had a credit card take out a loan or finance a truck. Even then, how do I estimate my monthly costs like truck payment and insurance on said truck?

  • I accidentally spelled the name of a company wrong on a job application in the cover letter. How bad did I mess up?

Best answer: It depends on the job and the person reading it. If it's a job as an English teacher you're sunk. If it's laying bricks, then who cares. If the person reading it is anal about stuff like that your screwed, but if they're a laid back person your chances are better. Generally it's a showstopper... show more

Generally it's a showstopper if you spell a company's name wrong, but since you followed up with another letter that may help. You don't want to make excuses for it next time - just say you allowed a mistake to get past you but you caught it and would like to correct it.
