My daughter has a late birthday so she just missed the Kindergarten cut off last year. She will be 6 at the end of the month. We just moved to a new school district this summer and when I looked into testing her to skip Kindergarten, we had already missed the cutoff. This testing is the only way they will advance kids into a higher grade, with the exception of a teacher recommending it-which doesn't get looked at until the following year. I am by no means saying my daughter is a genius, but based upon the curriculum that our kindergarten teaches, she knows most if not all of it. They expect kids to learn letters, letter sounds, and numbers up to 100 and be reading by the end of the year. She already reads quite well, can do math problems-even some multiplication etc. Today at our "connections" meeting I asked the teacher how she planned to make sure that she was being taught/advancing and not being bored while she is teaching kids the letters and numbers. I suggested maybe she could sit in with 1st grade during those times and that was an immediate no. She said that my daughter could read by herself while she was teaching the others. I don't feel that my daughter reading by herself will help her to advance in any way. I will still continue to work with her at home, but I think that cutting a kid off because of a birthday and not letting them learn at their level is ridiculous. If this was your kid, what would you do? I am thinking of making an appt. with the principal.

I'm a 16 year old who will be moving from the UK for my junior year of high school. I previously lived in the US so I already have friends in this particular town and I know the area. However, I am concerned about my transition to my new school. After speaking with my friends who are there it seems to me that we learn none of the same topics. Yes, of course we have the same subjects but within those subjects I feel as though their work is held up to a higher standard. I have also heard they have the opportunity to take college level (AP) classes, an opportunity which is simply not provided to me or any other students in the UK. This may not be too much of a problem by the time I actually begin school there, but I am still especially concerned about how my performance will be in the SAT and ACT tests. I am just starting year 11 and have already completed my math GCSE because I took the Further Maths class. I got an A+, however i'm still not happy because I hear that the grade boundaries are also different. from what I have heard, kids in high school need about a 97 or above for an A+. I plan to move to the US after finishing my GCSE courses. I already have a place in the school I would be attending once I move. So, I suppose my question is: What can I do to prepare myself to maintain respectable grades and do well on College entrance exams quickly after moving from the UK?

Also, a lot of kids are more mature, so I think there's a bit less bullying and stupid drama in high school. Another difference is that your schedule will be a little more random and you'll likely have a wider variety of classmates in your different classes. I know that my middle school did the "team" thing where they put all students in a grade on teams, so that everyone on the same team had the same teachers and ended up having a lot of the same classmates. I met so many more people in high school and made more friends because of this.

I’ve had basically everyone tell me he fits the profile of a school shooter. I go to school every single day thinking I’m not gonna make it out alive. He knows every class I have, he’s followed me from class to class and no one can do anything

I looked everywhere for weeks and constantly asked the school office if it had been handed in. It must have been a month later when my sister informed me it was in the pe department room where they hand out kit to those who have forgotten it. When I got it back the plastic inside was snapped and thus made them unwearable as the plastic stuck into your ankle causing severe pain and discomfort. These trainers costed about £50 and the school effectively stole it and damaged it beyond repair and wear. What can I do? Can I legally get them to replace them or anything?

I know a girl- her best friend from kindergarten was pressured into saying she didn't like my friend. So she and my friend conspired- they pretended to hate each other. They had so much fun with it that the others gave up on the bullying. I was in 9th grade when an 11th grader had to stand up in front of the class. Someone pointed out that she had a blood stain on her skirt from her period. She just laughed and said, "If they don't know what it is by now, it's time they learned." I thought she was the coolest, most mature person I'd ever met. Present yourself with confidence, and people can't bully you.

  • How to wake up early for school?

Best answer: Get a louder alarm clock and put it in a place where you have to get out of bed to shut it off. And go to bed early, no later than 11. Having had enough sleep makes it easier to wake up in the morning. If you usually go to bed later and get up later, then start a few days ahead of time doing those things earlier
