After you get honey on your hands and you wash your hands a lot.. is there still a risk of any honey or spores getting on to the bottle? I just know they say there’s like a bacteria that can cause issues and I just want to make sure that washing my hands definitely prevent any issues

Other than being tongue tied, she seems fine but I am a bit worried about her being on track. She seems good, she babbles, tries to crawl, is lifting her head up, can sit up on her own for several seconds, and eats over 12 ounches of her milk a day, but she seems so small for her age. Is her size a concern?

The other day, I found a bottle of expressed milk in the back of my fridge which was disgustingly bad. So I took it out & gave it rinse, & put this bottle on the side to later wash & steralise. This morning I went out, & left my husband in charge. My 3 month old was getting moody so, he fed her as I was walking in the door. He said that she had about 30mls (1oz?) but wouldn't drink anymore. I asked if I could try, as Iv never bottle fed her or even seen her take a bottle (I've always directly breastfeed)... so I put the bottle in her mouth. She kept spitting it out but I thought it was just my technique so I tried a few more times, placing the whole teat in her mouth & tilting her back. It was too much of a struggle so I just whipped out the breast and fed her. She was definitely hungry & drank. It wasn't till then that I tried and smelled the milk & it smelled & tasted really bad. I discovered that he used the bottle that had only been rinsed which had previously had the spoiled milk in it. (Even though there was an entire cupboard of clean bottles)!! I have no idea how old that milk was!! There was obviously remains of the old milk that were mixed with the fresh because it tasted and smelled bad. What could happen to my poor baby!? I'm stressing!! she seems ok but what signs should I look for! She pooped a few times more than usual but other than this, nothing unusual. If there was potentionally something bad in the milk, how soon would I know?

Best answer: One classic method is to introduce formula in bottles. Give one small bottle a day when he's very hungry, followed by finishing with breast milk. Gradually increase the percentage of formula, always finishing with breast milk. Your milk supply will gradually diminish as you proceed. Don't put unfinished formula back in the fridge, though. Enough microbes from your baby's mouth will have gotten into it, and would multiply.

Later on, using the same strategy, you can gradually replace the formula with regular cow's or goat's milk. Here again, don't try to save an unfinished portion. Then, even later, on there'll be sippy cups and finally regular cups with handles.

  • Baby restless while breastfeeding?

Best answer: Perhaps you find breast feeding stressful. It is, after all, perfectly normal for him to squiggle. You could pump your milk into a bottle and feed him that way - maybe then his squiggling won't bother you so much.
