I am looking for a new job. I have a year of teaching Preschool in a daycare and am about to finish my first semester of college in pursuit of an associates in ECE. I want to continue to teach, just not in a daycare. I am in Texas, what jobs could I look for?1 AnswerTeaching7 years ago
Is there a way in Texas to find out how many childcare training hours you currently have? Also, I just barely started college for an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education but should I get a CDA as well? I currently work at a daycare as the Pre K teacher making minimum wage and would really like either a raise or to work at a public school.1 AnswerPreschool7 years ago
DH and I married a year and a half ago at a courthouse, no family, no friends, nothing. We did it that way so I could be added to his health insurance when he started his job and we were completely broke. I don't regret the reason, but my best friend just had a regular wedding and my sister is planning one, with those I sometimes feel we missed out on the specialness of everything. Is it inappropriate to essentially have another wedding so late? We are also not sure on the logistics of it, we live in Texas with some of my family who are too broke and some too elderly to travel, and some of mine and all of his family are in Utah, they as well can't travel for various reasons. Both sides unfortunately would be offended if we picked one over the other. If we do two, one in each location, that's double the money, and just all so very confusing. It's frustrating because there are some people in both sides who look down on us for the way we did get married.13 AnswersWeddings8 years ago
I was diagnosed with PCOS and prediabetes. I have been unable to ovulate and obviously unable to get pregnant. I also have darker skin in certain areas due to the PCOS. I am about fifty pounds overweight. I have started using an elliptical for 20 minutes every morning (it's a start), have eliminated soda, and have really started watching my eating habits. My question is how long does it usually take to notice changes?1 AnswerDiet & Fitness8 years ago
My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for a couple years pretty passively until the last 6 months or so. I have had an issue with pcos the past few years with not having a period hardly at all. These past 6 months I have really cracked down on myself about diet and exercise well since starting that my periods have regulated and I have had them every month except now I am four weeks late. I took a test this morning and there was an extremely faint second line I will take another in a few days but I'm just wondering if it's wishful thinking to believe I finally see a line or are the tests pretty accurate and how dark does that second line really need to be2 AnswersTrying to Conceive8 years ago
I really need someone to view my Etsy shop and let me know where I am going wrong. I have had the shop awhile and have gotten several favorites, but no sales whatsoever. The address is www.etsy.com/shop/kayanncrafts. Thank you so much! There are forums on Etsy to get critiques, but it is very dead, no one answers.3 AnswersSmall Business8 years ago
Is there a way to study various subjects at home (i.e. animal behavior) then test out at a college or university and earn certification in that subject? (i.e. study accounting at home, go to local college, test out of required courses, earn degree in accounting?)1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)8 years ago
My husband and I need to work out a budget that will actually work. His income is about $60,000 a year and I don't have any. Each month we have an electric bill that could be anywhere from $150 to $500, water bill that could be from $45 to $150, garbage that is $62, shed that is $220, car that is $280 and car insurance that is $130. We do have food and gas expenses as well as the usual stuff but we are having a hard time figuring out a good system for that. What would you recommend?4 AnswersPersonal Finance8 years ago
My husband and I are pursuing an open adoption. The birth parents would like to hear about her and see photos, so would grandparents and others. I figured I could give everyone access without having to write to each person individually so I thought I could start a blog, however I don't want the entire world to have access to such private stuff. Is there a way to do this?1 AnswerOther - Family & Relationships8 years ago
Had a 4.5 hour power outage this morning (lightning struck transformer), most things came back on. However, a large portion of a wall with the microwave/stove/dishwasher/and several outlets will not come back on. How do I get power to this portion of the wall?4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years ago
My husband is a truck driver, so he doesn't have access to a refrigerator or microwave. He has a little crock pot cooker that he can heat things up with and a small cooler that he fills with ice. He is only eating crappy snack food right now, because it's the most convenient.
I am looking for recipes that I can make big make-ahead batches of and will keep for about a week in the conditions listed above. Thanks in advance!!!!3 AnswersCooking & Recipes9 years ago
My husband and I watch a womans two children on a regular basis at least every weekend if not more. The mother and the two fathers are not exactly the best at showing good examples to the children. The live with their mother and occasionally see their individual fathers. Their mother drinks, smokes, and does marijuana. She also has a habit of bringing home men to sleep with. We don't want the children getting lost in the CPS system and a lawyer to get custody of them will cost $200/per hour/per child, which we cannot afford.
We can't have children and love these two very much, we do our best to show good, healthy, examples.
The oldest, a boy age 9, recently asked my husband about a sex toy he found in his mom's room, and mentioned a cousin at his dad's house showed him porn. What are your suggestions on how to respond? Also, his sister is 6, when should I talk to her about things. I worry about what choices they may make when they are older, I also worry about their current safety. Any suggestions?3 AnswersGrade-Schooler9 years ago

There will be two custody cases (same mother, two fathers, two children); my husband and I are trying to get custody of two children of a friend. The lawyer I talked to says we would without a doubt win the cases and wants to charge $200 an hour and is willing to let us make payments. Is this a fair amount for the type of case? And is it believable if a lawyer says we would without a doubt win?1 AnswerLaw & Ethics9 years ago
I am the babysitter of a single mother of two children. These children are consistently put down and do not always have clothes that fit or food to eat when with her. I understand she is having a rough time but I recently found from her (I try to stay in good standing with her to keep contact and control of the children) that she is now smoking marijuana to relieve stress. We live in Texas so it is illegal. In a typical week the only time she sees her children is for bed and taking them to school, from school to dinner and every other weekend my husband and I have them. Over time more and more the children are spending weeknights with me and today is her day off work, however she has asked me to pick up the kids from school and keep them until school tomorrow and again tomorrow afternoon. I don't mind having the children, I would give anything to have custody.
Because she cannot afford it (she does have a full time job and child support from two men), though I'm not sure how my husband and I or the school feed the children, my husband and I clothe them, pay for school pictures, take them to do fun things, pay for school function items. We don't mind paying but would like to know where her money goes because she doesn't even pay me for watching them. I also am the one to schedule and take them to their doctor appts.
The children have slipped on occasion and either called me mom or my husband dad. Their own fathers see them every other weekend and thats if they show up. This past Thanksgiving break was supposed to be spent with their fathers but instead was spent with us. The fathers without any notification just didn't show up, not the first time.
Their mother never asks me about their wellbeing when they are with me, just simply wants to talk about her new boyfriend. Her son is having behavior issues in school and when he got green yesterday (behavior is on a color system, green is good) he was so excited to tell her and all she said was "I don't care, you should be getting green anyways." He is also starting to get violent in school.
If their mother and I are together with them, instead of going to her for something they need or want they come directly to me. They decorate for holidays with me, when they want to do it with her she tells them she doesn't want to.
Her son has a timeline of his life project due tomorrow, she refuses to help him with dates on when his firsts and whatnot were and instead tells him he needs to shut up and go to bed.
Her daughter is going through a stage where she doesn't eat very much, she nitpicks unless it's something she really really likes and when eating dinner the other day (we were together at her home) the kids were sitting on the floor beside the bed her and I were on. When her daughter started to drink some milk she kicked her in the back and scolded her for not eating. The kick however was not hard enough to cause physical harm, just enough to spill the milk and fuel the fire.
My husband and I would love to get full custody, however we are not related to them, do we have a chance at all?2 AnswersOther - Family & Relationships9 years ago
A couple years ago the situation started. A former coworker of my moms moved into our house bringing all his stuff with him due to a breakup of his relationship. That was fine it was agreed he would pay $200 a month to live there. Well, a little over a year ago he left for what was only supposed to be a couple of weeks. For several months we could not get ahold of him to find out what was going on. We needed the space in the house cause we had a baby (his stuff took up an entire bedroom) and got a storage shed to put his stuff in (approx. 5 months ago). About two months ago he finally responded stating that he is now living with someone else and as soon as he is settled in he will send us an address to send his stuff to. Still no address. We also have tons of mail and a package but no address. What can I do? We really would rather not keep paying for the storage unit for his stuff. He hasn't paid his $200 since he left and there was no contract besides verbally.3 AnswersLaw & Ethics9 years ago
There is some property across from my house that I would love to purchase. However, I called on it and the person on the other end had no idea what the address was, no idea about the property at all (super weird). How would I go about utilizing it under adverse possession? I do have a pesky neighbor who is you so much as walk on another property he will call the police, very annoying.2 AnswersLaw & Ethics10 years ago
