  • where to develop film washington dc?

    Where can I develop film, and get some prints made from negatives, in Washington DC? I don't need anything super fancy, but I prefer to avoid CVS/Walgreens/etc. Any tips?

  • Photo enlarger head misaligned?

    The baseboard on my enlarger is warped, and as a result the enlarger head does not project perpendicularly to the board. It's not huge, but definitely noticeable, maybe 4-5 degrees from vertical. My enlarger doesn't have an adjustment function to compensate for the tilt. Does this end up actually being a problem for prints? If I stop down enough, will the greater depth of field compensate for the tilt (meaning that at least the whole print will be in focus, even if a tad skewed). What do you think? Go with it as is, or go through the trouble of making a new baseboard out of plywood?

  • What is "fascism" to you?

    OK, yes, I'm not a moron, I have an idea what it means historically (WWII and whatnot). However, the word gets used a lot by people all over the political spectrum as an insult. What specifically does it mean to you when you hear the word in the modern context? Please don't refer to specific people, governments or parties. I don't want examples, I want a brief description or a few synonyms. I'm interested to see the range of opinion! Thanks!

  • Why do people think Obama is a socialist?

    When by his record he is more conservative than Ronald Reagan? I actually wish he were a socialist, and I'm disappointed he's not.

  • Why do Egyptian protesters use the six-pointed star/Star of David?

    On a lot of the coverage of the protests in Egypt, I see men holding pictures of Mubarak with 6-pointed starts drawn on his face-forehead. Clearly the symbol is being used to deface the image of the president. My question is this: Is this act related to any negative sentiment towards Jews (calling the President Jewish or a Zionist or something), or does this symbol also have another meaning/understanding in Arab or Muslim cultures? Please only respond with serious answers.

  • Is Scientology really a cult?

    In Germany Scientology is classified as a cult. Where do the borders of religion end and cult begin? Please don't respond by saying "all religions are cults." That's very predictable and cynical.

  • Is it too much to ask that people write "you're" and "your" correctly on Yahoo Answers?

    Does anyone else have trouble taking posters' questions seriously when they fail to distinguish between:

    your = owned by you

    you're = you are

    ur = an ancient city in Mesopotamia

    their = owned by them

    they're = they are

    there = located at that place

    its = owned by it

    it's = it is

  • Why do people ask questions here that are easily answerable through Wikipedia?

    I understand that there are a lot of questions that Wikipedia can not answer, like personal opinions or advice that is very specific ("What is the best bar in Tulsa?" for example). I don't understand why people ask very broad questions about subjects that are thoroughly examined in Wikipedia, such as, "What were the causes leading up to World War II?" It takes 300 times longer to get a response here, and the answers are generally much less consistent in quality.
