  • positions of 7 man crew in a B-24?

I'm writing a quick story that takes place during world war two, following a bomber crew of a B-24. I only have 7 characters, which is why I chose a B-24, since it has a 7-10 man crew. However, I can't find any listings of what a 7-man crew for a B-24 would be, specifically, I keep on getting the list of positions: 'nose gun, bombardier, navigation, pilot, co-pilot, flight engineer, top turret, radio, ball turret, left waist gun, right waist gun, and tail gun'. What would the positions for a 7-man crew be? Please help.

  • Help with Math Homework?

I have no idea where to even BEGIN with this one... please help!

research on the Internet or in the Library and find what the Dow Jones Industrial Average was on the first day that the Dow Jones was open in the year 1995 and the first day that Dow Jones was open in the year 2002. (note: the Dow is not open on New Years day). Using those two numbers calculate the average annual percent increase in the Dow Jones during that seven-year period.

  • Writing for a emotionally abusive character; any ideas?

I'm writing a story and the main character's mother is emotionally abusive. I've come up with a few things for her to say to the main character, but it's very repetitive and has little impact. If anybody has an idea, or some dialogue, it would be appreciated- I won't use it word for word, I just need somthing to build off of. Thanks. :)

  • Did my teacher mark this wrong by accident? (Algebra, finding roots by dividing)?

I got a C on a recent math quiz. When correcting my mistakes in order to reassess, I couldn't find anything wrong with this particular problem. I asked some other students doing better than me, and they couldn't find anything wrong either. This is the problem, it uses synthetic substitution.

use synthetic substitution to evaluate f(x)= 2x^4-8x^2-5x-7 when x=2.

    so I.....

    2] 2 0 -8 -5 -7

    ↓ 4 8 0 -10

    __________

    2 4 0 -5 -17

    and got the answer,

    2x^3+4x^2-5 - (17/x-2)

What did I do wrong? Did my teacher just make a mistake? Please help!

  • Quadratics- completing the square when a≠1? I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I AM DOING! PLEASE HELP!?

It's for a math class that I missed. I am so lost! All the examples on the school website are like this:

4x²+4x-2=0, and then it factors perfectly to 4(x²+x)=2 and then both sides are divided by four, etc. But, all the problems on the worksheet look like this: 2x²+9x=-2 and I have no idea where to get started! Help?

  • How to factor a Binomial that isn't a perfect square?

Please, please help. I can't figure out how to solve this math problem for the life of me.

    72x² - 2

I tried to split the middle so that it would equal zero. The answer I got was, (12x - 2) (6x + 1), and it was marked incorrectly. How do you factor a binomial that isn't a perfect square? Thanks in advance.

  • Factoring quadratics- please help!?

I got a horrible grade on a recent math quiz, and in order to reassess, I must correct all my answers. One of them has me stumped. I can't figure out what I did wrong.

So, the problem goes like this:

    8x² - 10x - 3

    I solved it like this:

    8x² - 10 - 3

    (Here I multiplied 8x3 for the a≠1 rule, and then split the middle. -24→ 12 x -2)

    (8x²-2x)+(12x-3)

    2x (4x-1) +3(4x-1)

Leading me to the two equations, (2x+3) and (4x-1) as my answer. My teacher circled the '+' and '-' symbols, marking me off half a point. I'm so confused; I don't know what I did wrong. Please help!

  • Opinions on my story? Constructive criticism please!?

Hi... I like writing in my spare time, and this was a blurb that I jotted down one day. It's mostly figurative language and it's really hard to understand, so I'm sorry about that. Interpret it as you will.

Also, please be honest! I want to know how to improve my writing because I plan to be published someday.

Huh. Looking over this now, it looks much worse than it did a minute ago. I am bracing myself for whatever feedback may come.

Nobody’s here anymore. Most of them were lead away from the rest of us, and their forgotten faces haunt me. I, also, was lead away. One day I was just taken firmly by the arms. I looked over my shoulder and saw the people behind me, starved and broken, staring numbly back. They stand together, but there is something about them, so loose and disoriented, that divides them like broken string. My feet stumbled but I was still pushed farther and farther, until nobody was left. We were all just bits of string that floated on wind.

That day I stood on the edge of the world where people are smoke and rain burns.

So... um... yeah. That's it. ^^'
