  • Delgado Community College:Culinary Arts?

Is Delgado a good school to get some experience and a culinary arts certificate? He has been working in the restaurant industry for the past 7-8 and has done everything from food running, waiting, busing, expo, line cook, prep food, and has been even the chef when the head chef was sick for a couple of weeks. He wants to go to delgado in NOLA as they have a culinary program and it is not as expensive as some other schools around here. I believe it is a short program. Has anyone known someone/gone through this course themselves? Looking for opinions. He already has experience in the service industry but is looking for that extra something that will put him ahead of others. Thanks! Here is the link to the program, he will be doing chef apprenticeship:

  • Starting my own environmental/green business?

I am in college currently with a major in environmental studies and a minor in both biology and land-use planning. I want to graduate, get my masters, and work for a company for a few years. Eventually, I would like to open my own business/firm in the environmental field. I would like to make a lot of money one day (don't we all?!). I was thinking along the lines of a planning firm or a company that specializes in installing geothermal heating, solar panels, wind turbines, etc etc. I would like it to become a powerful business someday where I can influence how and where we get our electricy from. I am hoping to one day have my opinion be an important one that can help out! Please tell me any thoughts/insights/suggestions on what good company would be? I am also very into green urban design and smart growth if that helps!

  • Floating glowing red orbs near the ground?

OK so here is what happened: back in 2009/2010 I was driving to pick up my friend from work around 10:30-11 PM during the summer months. I think it was 2009. I passed a soy bean field that I pass every day and noticed three red glowing orbs in the field. I stopped my car and stared for a while and decided to get out. the orbs did not move. I walked to the first one and stopped about 10 feet away and observed. What I saw was an orb floating above the ground absoultely stationary. it was (from what I remember) about the size of the soccer ball. It was a red/orange color and wasn't making any sounds. It was dead quiet, I even remember hearing my own ears ring because it was so quiet. Entirely freaked out, I ran back to my car and drove to pick up my friend. On the way back they were still there. What could these have been? I was close enough to it that I could have easily walked up and grabbed it but I was too afriad. Has anyone experienced this before? What was it?

  • Things to do during Mardi Gras?

Just like the title says.... I am heading to mardi gras this year in New Orleans and (besides from the obvious shenanigans) what are some touristy things I can do for 4 days? I would like to try some authentic food and go shopping, of course! Is there anyplace I can go that is voodoo or vampire related? also, what about boat tours? I would like to see the french quarters and where Katrina hit. Any other fun things? What about visiting the gulf coast and the bayous? Thanks in advance! :)

  • College of Staten Island Graduate School/NYU?

How good of a school is the College of Staten Island? I am at a small liberal arts college now and would love to attend graduate school in the city (might as well do it while I am young..i have always wanted to!). I am debating between 2 schools- NYU and College of Staten Island. I would love to go to NYU but if I don't make it in I hope my back up school will be College of Staten Island. After this graduate program I am moving to Montana to either further my education or start a job there. How reputable is the college of staten island? Would i have to live there? I would be going for something along the lines of Biology/environmental/conservation planning. Thanks!

I'm going to be moving in my boyfriend and one of my friends during second semester sophomore year. He'll be 22 and I'll be 20. Are there any tips you guys can tell me about living with your boyfriend? We are both VERY excited and happy and want to spend the rest of our lives together. Both of our parents are supporting us in this decision. it will also be a good financial move for my boyfriend. Even though I am only 20, I am a very responsible person. Everyone tells me I act much older for my age so please don't tell me not to do this...we have already decided :) Oh and we have been dating for 2 years and are quite in love with each other!

  • Summer-long road trip across America: price?

3 of my friends and myself are planning on taking a summer-long road trip next year. We're giving ourselves three months but we're going to take our time in some places. Would it be possible to take a car? Or should we buy a van/suv? How much gas money do you think we should bring? Has anyone gone across country in a car and camped and stayed in cheap motels? We're going from maryland to florida, across the south to baja CA, up the west coast to Seattle, then east across the northern states, to maine, and then back down the east coast to MD. How much per person would it cost do u think for food/gas/motels/misc? Any input or advice would help. Thanks so much.

  • Is drafting a good career?

Are there "better" jobs in the drafting industry? How does one become a successful drafter? School, apprentice, and then open up their own business? Would it be easier to work from home? What's the average salary?

  • How much money per semester of college?

How much money do you think is recommended to have saved for a semester of college? For food, gas, and other misc. items such as bathroom supplies. My living is paid for but I have to have money for everything else. I will have a food plan but would still like food in the room. this does not include items for the dorm/apartment. Just purely spending money. Thanks!! Also, could you state why you think that much money is needed? :)
