  • How to take 30 seconds of a 10 minute 1.5 mile?

    I ran a 10.03 for my 1.5 mile to qualify for the militart job I wanted. I'm headed to basic training in 3 months and it says to graduate with honors I need to be able to run 9:30 in each test I take. (there are two phyical fitness tests throught basic training.

    I've never really trained to get a 10.03 though. I blame it on my long legs, having my recruiter time me (didn't want to let him down), and on my last lap (was on a 1/4 track) a ex-drill instructer yelling in my ear. (Recruiter asked the drill instructor to help out another recruit and decided it wasn't fair for me that the recruit had extra motivation so he asked the instructor to yell at me too.)

  • What job would hire someone for 3 months?

    I'm currently enlisting into the Air Force and my ship out date is early January. My dad is about to sign over his car to me so I need to start paying for insurance. No idea who would hire someone who would leave in three months.

  • How do you turn a picture on a pc into a quality picture to hang on a wall?

    I had a good friend in high school who drew a picture on a computer. She passed away awhile ago and I was wonder if there was a way to somehow get it to be a quality picture in the real world that will last forever or at least my lifetime. Not printing it out on crappy computer paper that warps from all the ink.

  • How to maintain a slower pace while running?

    Due to the many suggestions I got from my last question I have decided to get off my treadmill and out on the street. But it's a lot harder than i anticipate, I planned on breathing to be more difficult but that's nothing compared to maintaining a good pace. I'm 6'4" with long legs so when I get to my natural run I'm going 10 mph which is way to fast. On the treadmill I could barely do 2 miles in 8 mph which is my goal for running outside. I tried running slower but after awhile my mind wonders off to other things so I go back to normal speed which wears me out. Is there a way to train my body to go slower?

  • My step-mom wants to adobt a dog 3 days after we had to put down our dog?

    We rescue animals and one of our dogs (we had 2) Shadow has had a very hard life. We got him when he was 1.5 years old in southern california chained to a rusted fence with no shade from the sun with a popular 55 mph highway not 5 ft from him. Anyway at around 8 years old he suffered from a cut on his eye (we think from a bush along our walk path) and the vets took so long finding out the problem that go very bad and had to be removed. A year later his other eye gets infected with I think glaucoma and had to get that eye removed. Even worse 5 months after that he is diagnosed with bone cancer which is way to expensive for us to treat so it was decided to put him down. Now this is my childhood dog and everyone who ever visited/meet him has loved him, he was that kinda dog.

    Now 3 days after we had to put him down my step mom wants to adopt another dog right of the get go. She says "it hurts to much with the passing of shadow to not have another dog". Which gets me unimaginably anger since she never even payed that much attention to him.

    My question though is morally right to get another dog 3 days after putting down Shadow? or should I let it go and just accept it?

  • Just went 6 miles in 61 minutes?

    This is a big accomplishment for me since I usually run 2-3 miles every couple days (wasn't aiming for 6 miles but I felt really good so I kept going). Sadly it wasn't a continuous run:

    2 miles at 7 mph

    .25 miles at 3 mph (rest)

    1 miles at 7 mph

    .25 miles at 3 mph

    .5 miles at 7 mph

    .25 miles at 3 mph

    forgot rest of time cause I got lost im my music but I ended up at 6 miles in 61 minutes.

    As you may of guessed I run on a treadmill which works for me cause I'm not trying for a marathon or anything. My goal though is to run 6 miles continuous run. My biggest problem is if I run for a long length of time without breaks my knee starts to hurt and I don't want rip a tendon or anything.

    My question being should I continue with the run and walk method or is there a better one out there? or should I give up goal so I won't mess up my knee?

    Some background info: 23 male, 6'4", 152 lbs (skinny but its genetic), healthy, no knee problem in general, every couple days means 3-4 days between runs cause I get discouraged my times.

  • anus feels like its suffocating?

    Ever since i was young..about 15 years now, about 1-2 times a day my anus would feel like it is suffocating. When I get the feeling I can't stay still, also is i stand I instantly get nausea and dizzy (cause be to pass out couple times). Sometimes is just happens out of nowhere but there are some triggers, nerves, or a small heated room (not claustrophobia cause it happens in wide open spaces).The only way to relieve the pain is pressure (like a wedgie) or walking. The amount of time/intensity it last varies. Never gave it much thought until recently where I want to join military which but it is impossible to stand in formation or in lines.

    My dad has a family plan with At&T. He had a I phone 4 and I had a 3GS. He upgraded to the iphone 5 and gave me the iphone 4. He called At&T to switch my 3GS to the 4 and they sent a sim card. I put in the new sim card and it says no serice. What do i do now?

  • Be the person who says "Drivers start your engines" in Nascar Sprint Cup?

    My dad loves Nascar and would love to see him be up there. I always see a lot of military personal do it. My dad is a Commander in the Navy, been in for 32 years and has been on 14 deployments (1 of which was in Iraq) and is still active. He's also a mech at heart and always has a car he's fixing up. I think it would be the perfect present for him but I have no idea how to go about applying or if there are any requirements.

  • (Meps) weight problem?

    I'm joining the Air Force and the next step is MEPS but I have a problem. I'm 6'3" and I believe the weight requirment is 152 but my weight will not go over 146. I have been working out and eating A LOT to raise my weight since I'm going for e.o.d. which has physical requirements. I'm a lot stronger but I can't again anything. What should I do?

  • Air Force Meps reaquirements?

    Just passed my Asvab with a 85 and I'm going for eod. I'm 6'3" and 147 pounds. I've been weight lifting and eating at least 3000 cal a day but my body just does not want to get over 147 (genetics). I believe min weight is 152 for 6'3". I may look skinny but I can do the physical requirements; 50 push ups, 50 sit ups, 5 pull ups, and 1.5 miles in 11 mins.

    Will they give me a waiver or am I screwed?

    Every form/topic just says e.o.d training is hardcore, but how hardcore is it? P90X (extreme workout program) hardcore? P90X on steroids hardcore? Anyway to find out what exactly is the physical training?

  • Improving my running time/speed?

    I need to be able to run a 1.5 miles in 11.5 minutes.

    I time myself in a mile and it showed 7.5 minutes but i was exhausted and couldn't go a step further.

    So i went online to see ow I can build my stamina and they said I should try to see how long I can conversation pace running (were you can hold a conversation without having to gasp for air and use full sentences) and see how long you can go. 30 minutes straight being fit.

    Well I tried and found the rate to be at 5 mph and my whole diaphragm hurt at 11 minutes and I couldn't go any further at 15 minutes (only going 1.25 miles)

    Should I continue with the conversation run or should I try something else?

    Also I don't have alot of time to improve since my test is in a month.

    I use a treadmill if that means anything...

  • Two EOD asvab scores for Air Force?

    I've wanted to go EOD for awhile now but the more I look into it the more feel I'm not going to make it...high drop out rate/hard tests etc. So I went to look for more opportunities and saw that Air Force has EOD with two different asvab requirements.


    M60 & G64


    M55 & G60

    They both have the same ID "3E831"

    Are these different jobs?

  • Help with best man toast?

    Two months ago I found out my brother was getting married and I''m happy for him. Yesterday he calls and says he's getting married next month and said I'm the best man. AAAAHHHHHH!!!!! I have no idea what I should say in my toast since I don't know much about....well......anything. When my brother turned 18 he joined the Marines and we pretty much stopped talking except for the occasional phone call of say "Everything's's good here". All my memories of us during childhood are meshed together since we moved around a lot (dad's navy). I don't even know the bride...I'm going to meet her the day before the wedding at the rehearsal dinner. I thought he was going to have one of his marine friends to be best man since they know im better, would of been fine with that but he wants me. What's should I say except for all the formal stuff like talking the hosts, complimenting the bride, parents, etc. I'm at a total loss.

    Also I've never spoken to a crowd before...

  • How do I lift my legs up will I'm Iaying on my back?

    There is a exercise called heels to the heavens where I have to put my legs straight up and reach up and touch my toes but my legs won't go all the wa up they bend at the knee. Anyway to help improve it? sorry for bad grammar.

  • Should I still do p90x if I can't follow food guide?

    I live with six mates, we all share the grocrey bill and not everyone wants to follow a food plan of a program that their not doing (I'm doing it alone). We eat healthy enough but wonder if I won't get good results if I don't follow food plan.
