What are options if you want to have a religious (Protestant) wedding but aren't a member of a specific churc?
My fiancee and I are getting married in September (at an outdoor venue here in the Austin area) and have hit a snag looking for an officiant. Her father would prefer to have a Baptist minister, but in our experience so far Baptist ministers are unwilling to wed couples outside of their own congregation (sometimes even outside their own physical church). Any suggestions for how we could accomplish this? We've considered having a JP and having a separate scripture reading but her family isn't crazy about the idea.4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade ago
I've got Windows Vista and just can't quite figure out how to do this ... considering buying an iPod but most of my music was downloaded or ripped to the WMP.2 AnswersMusic & Music Players1 decade ago
Just today I've had an aggravating problem with the air conditioner on my '04 Silverado. It just won't shut off. The knob that switches it from vents to floor to defroster works, but the knob that adjusts the level or turns it off doesn't. It keeps going full blast, even (and this is the worst part) when I turn the engine off. It takes several tries of shutting off and restarting the ignition to make it finally cut off, but then if I drive for a minute or so it kicks back on even though the AC switch has been off the whole time.
Is there some trick to this that I'm missing? Is this something that a guy with limited mechanic experience (like me) could fix at home or does it need to go into the shop?3 AnswersChevrolet1 decade ago

I've been looking for my lost dogs for awhile now ... a few weeks ago I got a call from a service that did the auto-dial approach for a door-to-door search. At the time I said "no" because I already had ads in the paper, on craigslist, flyers posted, at vets & shelters, etc. but none of those other approaches have worked so far. I'd like to give that service a shot but I can't remember what it was ... does this sound familiar to anyone?1 AnswerOther - Pets1 decade ago

My fiancee and I are trying to put together the guest list for our wedding, and space & budget considerations are keeping us from inviting everyone that we'd like to. I have heard about dividing the guest list up into "A" and "B" ... the A-List folks are extended family members and close family friends, whereas the B-list would be people who are a little less close or that you've known for a shorter time. The A-list gets the invitations first, and when some of them RSVP that they can't attend, then you can send invites to some of the B-list folks (and of course you don't tell them there was a "B-list"). None of us like "ranking" friends like that, but we're kind of up against the wall here ... what do you think?26 AnswersWeddings1 decade ago
For the record, I'm more interested in trying to download songs off of CDs or tapes I used to have that have been lost or stolen down through the years, I'm not trying to rip off musicians or songwriters. But my girlfriend is paranoid about the service infecting our computer.6 AnswersSecurity1 decade ago
I have lost my two dogs, hopefully just temporarily ... they got out of the fence at my relatives' home Sunday morning in a town a few miles away from my own. I have been searching the area itself as well as the local pet shelters, and even tried craigslist ... someone sent me an e-mail about this site, and it looks real enough but I thought I should check it out first. I'm willing to try just about anything but I'd feel like a serious fool if I sent money to a site that is widely known to be a scam (but, hopefully, is not).3 AnswersDogs1 decade ago
I don't really want to go the iPod route, because I have a PC and would rather get something compatible with WIndows Media Player. I have a Dell DJ and I like it but it's kind of outdated (doesn't work with the PC since I updated Windows Media Player). Any suggestions?3 AnswersMusic & Music Players1 decade ago

Just curious, I hear about anti-Semitic racism from time to time and it always surprises me because growing up in suburban Texas there were hardly any Jewish neighbors so it was a non-issue. Is it still a big problem in some communities?1 AnswerOther - Society & Culture1 decade ago
I know the critics didn't care for it and it didn't make much money, but i thought it was a pretty decent flick ... funny & sharp with good acting all around, plus I liked the old-school football plot. Anybody else seen it? What was your opinion?2 AnswersMovies1 decade ago
What steps would you normally take to block identity theft if you suspect someone has your ID numbers?
The reason I ask is, I temporarily lost my wallet in the vicinity of my own home. An anonymous neighbor returned it while I wasn't home ... the small amount of cash that was in it was gone, but the cards (including my drivers license and social security card) were still in there. It's possible that whoever had it for the night wrote down my numbers somewhere ... are there any government or credit agencies (aside from my bank who I already notified & cancelled my ATM card) that I should contact?5 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade ago
I found a lot of stuff that I liked on SpiralFrog but it isn't compatible with my mp3 player (a Dell DJ 20). I know Amazon's mp3s transfer fine, and so do iTunes, but I was curious if there was anything cheaper (but still legal) out there.5 AnswersMusic & Music Players1 decade ago
