  • Question about renting out our home?

My wife and I are considering renting our home out. Is using an agent better than going privately. Either way you have to have insurance, so what other advantages would an agent give you for their percentage cut of the rent? We are in a city where rental properties are in very high demand at the moment.

  • Does anyone use an accu check go BGL meter?

I have recently purchased an accu check go meter to check my bgl level. I have used it several times now and always record a low reading - highest has been 1.1 and lowest 0.4 - I would expect to be comatose if this is the case. Are these meters known for bad readings or could I be using it incorrectly. I have followed the instructions precisely. Could such low readings come from not enough blood for the test? Any opinions or advice would be appreciated.

  • Question about dogs eyes that react differently to a camera flash?

I have photographed my two little dogs (they have very similar geneology as they are brother and sister) and under identical circumstances their eyes have different colours in reaction to the camera flash. You have heard of "red eye", one of my pups gets the classic red eye reaction however my other one gets a green eye reaction, even when they are standing next to each other in the same shot. I have heard that the green eye reaction can indicate a possible problem with the eyes with cataracts in later life. Can anyone confirm that or perhaps explain the difference? I am asking this question in both the pets section and in the cameras section ...

  • What would you do in this situation?

There is a debate (quite heated) going on on Sydney breakfast radio right now and I think opinions from the Yahoo community should be sought.

Yesterday a 2yo boy was mauled by the family Mastiff/Staffy cross.

The child is injured but not hospitalised and the childs mother has sided with the dog saying that the child had pulled the dogs ears and generally annoyed it and the dog got fed up with it and defended itself.

What would you do - get rid of the dog, supervise the child better or just plain kick the mother in the backside for leaving the child with the dog after she had witnessed him annoying the dog (she said in an interview she had seen him lying on the dog and pulling its ears for quite a while before it happened - she was inside too and the child and dog outside in the yard). How appropriate is such a dog to be around children anyway?

  • My answer was reported, can anyone explain why?

I answered a question "Why is America so hated?" with the following answer:

"American tourists are loud, rude and obnoxious. They display overt jingoism, America over everyone else. Their foreign policy is dictatorial. They say they provide aid however rarely is there no strings attached. Nobody likes the big school bully - America comes across that way in much of their dealings with the rest of the world."

It was reported and removed. Can anyone explain why? The whole premise of the question was to give an opinion on why Americans are so hated and my dealings with American tourists has indicated I made very valid points. Perhaps I should have also included thin-skinned.

  • My dog just ate some chocolate, what should I look for re a bad reaction?

My dog (pug/malt cross - about 7 kilos (15 pounds) ) just ate some chocolate that had been dropped on the floor - no too much - a few grams and I took it off him before he swallowed it all - what should I be aware of re a bad reaction from it. It was darkish chocolate.

  • Does covering for smoking workmates p*ss you off?

How many non-smokers take offence at having to take up the slack for smokers at work when they nip out for their once an hour (or more) bad habit break. I dont get 10 minutes an hour to pick my nose or scratch my a*s or any other bad habit I want to indulge in. Do you think smokers should be docked for their smoke breaks?

  • What has happened to the quality of questions on this once interesting site?

Do you feel that this site has degenerated into a teeny bopper dating advice site or a place for fools to vent? I enjoyed coming here once and answering meaty, interesting questions or having a good laugh, however the majority of questions posted seem to relate now to kiddie relationships, the length of certain body parts or whether or not some adolescent is considered "hot" or not. Do you think there should be a seperate site for over 20s?

  • Why do women get upset?

Why do women spend so much time to look as fabulous as they can, just to bark things like "What are you looking at" to any bloke who admires them visually?

Isn't that what they wanted in the first place? I'm old and confused ...

  • Who can write the lowest limerick?

    Here's a couple of examples:

There was a young man from Rangoon,

He was born on top of a saloon.

    He didnt have the luck

To be born from a f*ck,

He was scraped off the walls with a spoon ...

There was an old lady from Orton,

She had one long t*t and one short'en,

    To make up for that

She had a dirty great crack

    And a fart like a six-fifty norton!

If any one can come up with a lower dirtier bluer limerick than those - well 10 points for you (and possible deletion ...)

  • What foods can and can't you give to your dogs?

Can anyone list foods that may be harmful to a dog if it eats them (other than chocolate, onions and garlic which are well known).

For instance I read an answer before that said egg was bad for a dog however I have seen dog foods with egg in it. Can anyone give a definitive list of bad foods for dogs?

  • For Frank Zappa Aficionados - which era of the Mothers was your favourite lineup?

For me - the six man line up that recorded Does Humour Belong In Music video was the tightest among all the different line ups.

Frank Zappa – lead guitar, vocals

Ray White – rhythm guitar, vocals

Ike Willis – rhythm guitar, vocal

Bobby Martin – keyboards, saxophone, vocal , french horn

    Alan Zavod – keyboards

    Scott Thunes – bass guitar

    Chad Wackerman – drums

    Whats your thoughts?
