My grandfather is 85 years old and he has a host of health issues and recently broke his hip. They did surgery to repair his hip but his dementia has worsened and he's now turning aggressive. My grandmother (81) keeps taking steps to prolong his life but chances at a quality of life is gone.
Beyond trying to talk some sense into my grandmother is there any way my mother and uncle can take control of the situation? We live in Ohio and while I love my grandfather dearly I know that if he really knew what was going on he'd be very upset with my grandmother.6 AnswersFamily1 decade ago
I'm getting ready to search for a new daycare provider for my kids. I just recently met someone who is here in the US on a religious worker visa. She's running out of money and needs a way to get an income but her visa makes it illegal for her to accept employment.
I've seen her in action with my kids and I know she'd be a good sitter but I'm concerned about the legal issues. Does anyone have any thoughts are advice? I want to help her out but I'm concerned about getting us both in trouble legally.2 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade ago
Ok my spouse works night shift. Over 4th of July weekend he took a four day weekend. When he got back he found taped to his computer cute little pictures of kitties, duckies, and a hamster. Each of these syrupy cute characters had speech bubbles giving rise to a plot to "kill" my spouse. To me this sounds like nothing more than joke. My husband took it as a joke. But HR has confiscated the pictures and has launched an investigation? So who should be worried about their job? Is this really that serious?6 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade ago
You know those kits that have the plastic film, double stick tape and you use a hair dryer to shrink the plastic. Do you really have to buy the kit or would a roll of regular plastic film and double stick tape do just as well? I'm not going to put it up now but I wanna start stocking up on the supplies ahead of time.2 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)1 decade ago
My babysitter has decided to go out of business and she's expecting me to not hire or start a new sitter until she finds a job. Well, school starts in a month for my older child and I've decided that it would be better to make the change sooner rather than later so my son (he's 2) can make the transition with his sister by his side.
I'm feeling horrible about this. Does anyone have any wisdom or insight that might be helpful?3 AnswersParenting1 decade ago
I work in an IT department and a my company is creating a CIO position in order to clean up the terrible work environment. I just found out that an extremely unpopular manager is being considered for the position.
Why is he unpopular? Basically while he has excellent skills with technology his people skills have much to be desired. There are rumors that he's in an inappropriate relationship with a coworker, I have first hand knowledge that he had a personal vendetta against another coworker. And he's been here long enough that he's part of the problem.
So do I ask to speak to the search committe? or Do I get my resume in order? The tough part is all the information I know was given to 3 members of the search committee through a climate survey 6 months ago.1 AnswerOther - Careers & Employment1 decade ago
I feel like I'm hanging on by a thread. I had a nervous breakdown on my kids yesterday morning (which I hate myself for). I need help but I don't have any $$ for meds or threapists.

Like many people in America right now I just did the math and after I pay my bills I can either buy gas or buy groceries? So how are people coping? I shop with coupons. I only drive when absolutely necessary so 1 tank of gas lasts me a week. I live too far away from my job to commute by bicycle. What do I do?3 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade ago
You have 2 employees:
1 is an excellent customer service representative, Your customers give you positive feedback regarding this person. The organization method on their desk is not one that you would choose but they do their work. Their biggest issue: Punctuality in arriving in the morning (5 minutes behind 3 or 4 times a week) and because of children at home occasional call offs to tend to sick kids.
The other employee is highly skilled but shys away from taking any kind of customer service role. Seems to thrive on conflict and regularly challenges authority. This one is very punctual and hardly ever calls off. This employees desk in impecabily organized.
So which employee is more valuable? Which employee are you more firm with on a performance eval?1 AnswerCorporations1 decade ago
At the request of a producer from a major morning television show I send some hard-copy photos of my spouce for one of their make-over segments. Things didn't work out so the make-over didn't happen. When the producer called to tell me that it wouldn't work she promised to return my photos.
It's now been 2 weeks and still no photos. These are precious family memories and I would like them back. So what kind of lawyer do I need to hire? I don't want money I want my pictures back.5 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade ago
at the request of one of the Today Show producers I sent hardcpoy pictures of my spouse for a make-over segment. It didn't work out. So OK fine I understand and that's not my problem.
My problem is that even though this producer said on the phone that she would return my hard copy photos I haven't gotten them after 2 weeks. She's not responding to my emails I'm ready to start calling her.

I'm planning to talk to my doctor about this but I was wondering if anyone had some nuggets of wisdom.
I fell and dislocated my shoulder a week ago. The ER gave me a script for percocet. I'm limiting myself to 2 pills a day but I'm feeling like I need more than that. When do I get concerned that I'm hooked?
Like I said I'm going to talk to my doctor about it I'm just wondering if anyone's been down this road and has any wisdom to share.8 AnswersPain & Pain Management1 decade ago
A car payment for example. Payment is due on the 28th of the month, you have a 10 day grace period (until the 6th, 7th or 8th of the month).3 AnswersCredit1 decade ago
Just because a company can do somethig doesn't mean that they should. This makes me sick. I will never shop at Wal-mart again.

On the one hand my boss complains that I don't ask for help when I really need it. Then the same boss give me all kinds of crap about being lazy and incompetant when I do ask for help.
I need this job. Changing jobs isn't an easy fix for this.2 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment1 decade ago
My spouse and I are having a bit of a dispute about this. I know he can't becuase of something in the constitution but where is it exactly? Person who gives links to sources will be more likely to get chosen best answer.
Also can he run for a seat in congress?
I admit I'm not well versed in his political views. It came up when we saw the new coverage of him giving his endorsement to McCain for President.36 AnswersElections1 decade ago
