Why do people think that all they have to do to be Christian is believe in God and live a good life?
Belief in God does not make a person a Christian. Muslims and Jews also believe in GOD - as do practitioners of other faiths.
The word Christian is derived from Christ - JESUS, the Christ to be more specific.
To be Christian, one must believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God; profess faith in him and surrender one's life to him.
You do not have to go to church to be a Christian, but one is not a Christian simply because he/she believes in God and does good deeds. At the least such a person would be a "theist" - or a believer in God - but not a Christian without meeting the aforementioned requirements.22 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade ago
To save a life?
I know what I'd be willing to give up immortality for, I'm just curious to see if anyone else feels the same.
I personally think it's terrific that a black man can be President the same as a white one, a Hispanic one or a "Whatever" one, but find it hard to believe that anyone would vote for the President of one of the most powerful countries in the world strictly on the basis of color rather than confidence in the person's credentials and track record.14 AnswersElections1 decade ago
Why do people say they're doing a research paper but expect people at Y-Answers to do the research for them?
Some people go so far as to ask for links and references!!!

- making over small houses into huge mansions the poor homeowners cannot possibly afford to maintain?
I mean, it's nice they give them 6,000, 8,000, 10,000 sq ft instead of 1,000 but how are they going to pay the difference in the electricity to heat and cool all that extra sq ft.? Their salary didn't go up when E/M built them the huge mansion.
This is twice in less than 6 mo I have seen a story about someone about to lose the house E/M built them:
"Sadie Holmes thought it was a blessing when ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition built her a 7,000-square-foot home and office for her charity in 2006.
Now she's struggling to keep her nonprofit afloat, and she may end up losing the $400,000 home."
Maybe it just goes to show celebrities don't have any idea what r e a l people have to live on. They probably blow more money than most avg people earn in a year.2 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade ago
Secondly, if I asked you to send me $1 so I could send it to a particular charity, would that affect whether you would or not?
Third, if I said I was not going to do anything with the money but blow it, would you be more likely to send me $1 because I was honest?
Fourth, would the fact it is a small denomination make a difference whether you would or not?
Just curious. A local radio DJ was cutting up and said to send $1 to the station and people actually did! It ended up being several hundred dollars the station donated to charity.7 AnswersCommunity Service1 decade ago
A friend and I share vampire books and were just talking about how all the books we've read are written by female authors. It got us wondering if there are any male authors out there who write vampire stories. It would be interesting to see if the perspectives differ depending on whether the story is told by a man or a woman.17 AnswersMythology & Folklore1 decade ago

So far China has been implicated in tainted dog food from chemically enhancing wheat, then they arbitrarily decided not to make tires to U.S. specifications and send sub-standard ones in which the tread separates resulting in several accidents - one of which was fatal. They have exported tainted fish and other food products and now we find in today's news that the toothpaste they've exported to the U.S. contains GLYCOL (poisonous) instead of GLYCERIN (non-harmful). But we're still receiving goods and services from China? How stupid is that?6 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade ago
