  • Help! Dog ate half of a chicken drumstick!!!?

Okay I came home to my dog lucky snapping a drumstick (just the bone) in half then chewing and swallowing it. That night he threw up a bit on m moms bed. From her description it was Chunky I supposed he threw up some of it. She said it was not bloody. So one day later and he poops another day passes (now today) I find the poop has bones in it! It looks like all of them! But he's still throwing up! I think he threw up twice today, it is just yellow and foamy. What's going on, does he still have more to pass? His gums are healthy and pink and he's snoring and sleeping right now and doesn't seem to be in any pain whatsoever. What should I do??? Did it splinter? There's no blood in his feces.

  • Is my tooth going to fall out?

Okay so I have been waiting a few months for this damn tooth to fall out. I was a very late bloomer when it came to losing my teeth (I'm almost 15) but this one I noticed has a spot on it that that is just indented and is pink! I'm kinda nervous that it's infected, it isn't causing me pain at all but I don't think it's quite ready to come out. It's wiggly only one way, towards the inside of my mouth but not forward towards the outside of my mouth. It's really annoying but I'm afraid to pull it :S what should I do? Do I need to have it removed by my dentist???

  • What to do for bettas in a power outage?!?

The power might g o out tonight and I'm really worried. My room is 60* and I have heaters for my bettas (one in a 2.5 gallon and one in a ten gallon) what if the power goes out? How do I keep them warm. BETTA OWNERS OR EXPERTS ONLY. I don't want any "help" from betta vase/bowl keepers saying they don't need a heater. Their tanks are heated at 78* what can I do to maintain a warm tank in a power outage, my mom gets migraines if you turn the heater on in the house so I can't do that. Our box generated is very loud and is broken now.

  • Can you EXCHANGE a betta to petco without a receipt, but the cup it came in?

So I got another male but he didn't work out because he hasn't been eating etc. I don't want to deal with another fish death this year so I'm exchanging him, but I don't have the receipt except I have the cup he came in. Money doesn't really matter so if they don't exchange will they at least take him back?

  • How to have a safe divided betta tank?

I'm going to divide a tank for two bettas (one male) I don't know the other ones gender yet because I haven't decided..im going to use a plastic canvas and poster hangers in order to make the divider. If I have some left I will double layer it. Is this safe. How low should I put the water so they can't jump or should I just make the top to the divider taller than the tank level. Does anyone els have a divided tank. Is this okay for a betta? Is 5 gallons okay for a betta?

  • Softer or harder water for betta fish?

I have really bad water available for my fish tank. I have a 2.5 with a betta and ice been using spring water which has been perfect, the best ph and everything, now I'm upgrading him to a ten gallo tank and I ca. Afford the spring water. My tap water has really high hardness and alkalinity and my purified sink water is too soft and has a low ph of 6.5, I decided that soft was better? Was I right? Which one would be best? I use stress coat as my water conditioner and I added ph stabilizer but I dot think its working. What would you do?

  • I have a new tank, but its foggy? No fish yet.?

I have a ten gallon set up with thoroughly rinsed gravel, live plants, flourish aquatic plant fertilizer, stress coat, ph balancer and softened water that when through a faucet. There's no fish in there but the tank is foggy, is it because I didn't wash the gravel good enough, I washed it three times using 1/8 a cup of gravel every wash while running it under near boiling water. Also, the waters ph is 6.5 ish, would ph plus help the ph rise? The ph balancer doesn't seem to be working. Also will ph plus rise the hardness and alkalinity?

  • Betta has velvet???????????

Okay so he went threw a filter last week and got two sores and was fine three days thn his filter leaked while I was cleaning it from an algae bloom on it so he went without one for 12 hours and it dropped to 66*. Then the next day I did a 100% water change because the algae (which may have also been bacteria) was so bad. He had clamped fins before the water change and on day after he developed fuzz on his skin. As shown in this picture link, he is the red and purple betta: http://www.bettafish.com/showthread.php?t=138546 does he have velvet he stays at the bottom of his tank and only comes up for air. What can I treat it with. I'm trying maracyn plus, will that work?

  • How to set up a ten gallon freshwater tank?

In the summer I wanted to give my betta a tank upgrade from a 2.5 gallon to a 10 gallon. How do I cycle it? What's the best heater and filter for a ten gallon betta tank, I want a really light and safe filter? I might put other fish in there so it doesn't look so empty, can I get like 3 male guppies? How long do I have to cycle the filter for. And how often should I do water changes. I've been using 100% sprig water for my betta but it would be too expensive continuing him on spring water in a ten gallon so how do I slowly get him use to conditioned tap water? What are some easy live plants I can put in the tank and how do I care for them? Thanks!

  • Help! Betta with clamped fins and white veiny line down his back?

He has this weird white veiny line on his back that he just developed when i look at him head on and slightly to one side I can see an almost fuzzy tiny coat. He also has two open sores from when he went through the filter or got stuck in it! He stays in one spot, at the bottom or top of his tank, and only moves for air or to reposition. He also has clamped fins! It's been over a week since he has been through the filter and he's only had these symptoms for 4 days. It sounds like a bacterial infection of some sort, it's not ick he doesn't have any spots. Can I treat this with Maracyn Plus?

  • Betta trouble???????

I did a large water change due to an algae bloom. He's been this way for 24 hours. He is on the surface of the water and is still but. Sometimes moves to get to another side of the tank. His tank is heated but not filtered anymore because he got stuck his filter last week so I had to tear it apart and I'm kind of resenting them now. Even before the water change he acted like this. Is this a sign of beginning swim bladder? His tank is 2.5 gallons ad has melafix, water conditioner, and aquarium salt. He is feed flakes 6 days a week and is given a piano Fridays and is fasted of fish food on that day. I give him bloodworms 3x a month. He has 3 open sores on his forehead and body from the filter incident. What's wrong with him, he was acting fine noes he all different! Even after the filter incident (after a few hours) he regained strength.
