  • Any songs with a resurrection theme?

I need to find a song for my religion class that has a theme of either resurrection or turning away from sin to a new, pure life. Any suggestions for this type of song (preferably secular because my religion teacher normally listens to Christian music, and I want to provide a different outlook)?

  • Not sure what styles to pick for prom?

I have fairly short hair, so I know I don't have as many options for that, but what would be some generally nice hair styles for short hair that I could have for prom? Also, what type of dress would you recommend? I am also short, so a huge, long dress tends to a) not fit me and b) make me look like I'm drowning in fabric.

  • Which of these instruments should I learn next?

I want to learn an instrument that is not very popular so I can play parts that no one usually plays in my school's band. I was just wondering, if there are any professional musicians or band directors, which instrument would be best in terms of:

    -Solo performance (most opportunities)

    -Cost (rental OR purchase)

    -Maintenance

-Importance in a band, orchestra, or ensemble (as in, which one would directors appreciate the most)

You can answer one for each category, or an overall answer. The instruments I am considering are oboe, viola, french horn, bassoon, and trombone. I am not considering difficulty at all because I'm willing to work hard in order to learn the instrument.

  • Is it possible to not take an AP exam, but just the course?

I'm a junior in high school, and quickly approaching the AP Spanish exam. My teacher told us we'll all get 2s on the exam at best, and I do not feel confident about it at all. Is there any way to not take the exam, or at least have it hidden from what colleges will look at? The rest of my grades have been great so far, but this class is killing me because I entered straight from Spanish 3 last year.

  • Different volunteer opportunities?

I am currently a junior in high school, and I have repeatedly heard that volunteer work is one of the most important things that you can do to look good to college admissions people. I have a job and I'm doing tons of extracurriculars already at my school. I would love to volunteer except for a couple of problems. (1) I don't have enough time to do it (2) I want an opportunity that's different than what everyone else does (collections for the poor, working at soup kitchens, helping children, etc.) and (3) I'm a very introverted person who would like to help people, but I'm honestly just not very social, so I feel uncomfortable working with strangers.

  • Why are atheists so quick to condemn?

Every atheist I talk to seems to view everyone else who believes in God as stupidly following something made-up, which somehow makes the believer unintelligent. I'm willing to listen to their opinions for a while, as I try to be tolerant, but has it ever occurred to them that whether there is a God or not, religion is still a source of happiness for some people? It doesn't hurt to participate in good works, and it's not like all Christians try to impose their beliefs on others. Just wondering what your opinions are on this matter.

  • What is the deal with marine biology?

I'm just wondering why it's so popular and why it's one of the "suggested" careers for women (like almost all of my friends who are girls say they will be either a teacher, nurse, actor/singer, or marine biologist?). It just seems strange to me that this specialization of science would be different from all the rest. Can anyone provide insight, especially if you are a marine biologist or considering it as a career, as to why girls like this job?

  • Any book suggestions that DON'T involve vampires?

I already read Twilight, well, just so I could accurately criticize it. Now I'm wondering if there's actually some good YA fiction out there. Is there anything you would recommend that deals with real-life characters (as in, not fantasy) and involves romance, comedy, or both? I'm looking for a non-girly book, and it would be even better if it had a lot of nerdy references (like "Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl" by Barry Lyga, for example).

  • Why do people join Facebook groups that reveal bad qualities of themselves?

I have noticed that my friends keep joining groups that promote things that people don't usually want to brag about, like only liking certain kinds of people or cheating on tests. Why would they want people to know about that? Do they actually think it's cool to brag about being a jerk?

  • Are my guinea pigs fighting?

My guinea pigs are always fighting, or so it seems. One of them is more aggressive than the other and makes a strange purring noise almost constantly while bristling its fur and shaking itself in the other's face. Then one of them goes after the other (it isn't always the aggressive one). Is this actually aggressive or were they just annoyed? And if it is aggressive, what should I do about it?

  • Which AP classes are more manageable compared to others?

I'm trying to start narrowing down my choices for next year, which will be my senior year of high school. I was just wondering, if anybody has any experience with AP classes, which ones would be more manageable? By manageable, I mean that I will be able to take multiple AP courses and not fall behind on my work. I am normally an A student, and I'm currently taking two AP classes already. The reason I am even asking this is because I didn't know what I was signing up for when I got into AP Spanish. It's an incredibly insane course, and I just want to know if there are any other courses to avoid. My options for next year will most likely be:

    -AP Calculus

    -AP Biology

    -AP Physics

    -AP Chemistry

    -AP English

  • How should I go about writing a letter to a celebrity?

I would like to hand-write a letter to a person from one of my favorite bands. First of all, should I write it to their record company if I can't find an address? And second of all, do you think I would get a reply from the actual person considering that it is not that popular of a band?

  • Who is a good female guitarist (besides country)?

I am kind of disappointed at the lack of female guitarists, specifically lead guitarists in a rock band. Too many of the women who play guitar only play a few chords and sing. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what bands/artists include a very skilled female guitarist? I am particularly into alternative/indie rock, and not interested in country artists.
