  • When does Adventure Island in Tampa open in the spring of 2013?

We're going to be in the Tampa area March 8 to 14, 2013. Will Adventure Island will be open for the season by then? If so, we're also doing a day at Busch Gardens, so does anyone know if there are park ticket deals that would get us into both parks?

  • Advice on a new shower faucet?

I want to install a rainhead shower with a handshower on a vertical pipe shower fixture. I was looking online and saw showerheads, handshowers, shower faucets, and valves. Can't I just buy the whole assembly together? Any suggestions on what brand or type to buy? What's better - temperature balanced or pressure balanced? What's the most reliable brand or easiest to get parts for?

  • What's better for a gas range, stainless steel or white enamel with grey enamel top?

I'm looking to replace an electric range with a gas one, and have narrowed the selection down to the GE Profile Dual Fuel freestanding gas range. Should I get stainless steel or white enamel?

I've read that stainless steel is hard to clean and scratches easily. A white enamel stove even with a grey top where the burners are, just seeems like a cleaning nightmare. What would you buy?

  • Questions regarding skiing in Utah March 14,15,16?

We're planning to ski Utah March 14, 15, 16, 2010 (Sun, Mon, Tues). We're thinking of Park City for 2 days, and The Canyons for 1 day. We're all advanced skiers. The questions are:

    1. Is it worth paying $110 for the front of the line lift ticket at Park City, versus the regular ticket price of $85? I think a couple of colleges have Spring break that week, but U of Utah and the elementary/high schools aren't on break that week. The rest of North America is another story...

    2. For skiing, which is better in your opinion, Deer Valley or The Canyons?

    3. We're looking at staying in a condo in Park City. Any opinions on "Snow Country" Condos?

  • Any advice on replacing house windows?

We live in Toronto, Canada and are going to rip out & replace the windows, storms & screens from the '60's. We have hot summers and cold winters. I've concluded that we need vinyl frames, installed in the existing window frames (not brick to brick), and in the majority of the windows, we'll put either casement or fixed windows. What should I be looking for in terms of # of panes of glass, low e coating, installation, screens, etc? Further, I was thinking of just weatherstripping the basement windows and leaving the old basement windows with storms & screens because we never open them or look out them anyway. Is leaving the old basement windows a bad idea from a heat transfer perspective?

There are so many window manufacturers that comparing them boggles my mind. How do I compare them??

  • Weed control between concrete patio stones?

We have a patio made of 2ft by 2ft patio stones, with 1/4 inch to 3/8 inch spaces between the stones. The weeds drive me nuts! Any ideas on what I can fill in the spaces with to prevent weeds from growing? I tried sand, and grew weeds, I tried screening and couldn't go on the patio in barefeet. Dirt grows lotsa weeds. I was thinking of using "Top & Bond" concrete patch, and puting the powder between the stones, watering it, and waiting to see what happens if it hardens. What do you think?

  • Advice on asphalting a driveway?

We are going to dig up and re-asphalt our driveway. Quotes have 6" aggregate with either 2", 2 1/2" or 3" compacted hot asphalt, with the prices higher depending on amount of asphalt. Which thickness is best? Is it worth it to spend an extra $600 to get the extra inch of asphalt? 2" asphalt is about $1300 Cdn and 3" is about $1900 Cdn.

Our driveway is double width with a 15 degree slope down to the sidewalk. The cars are kept in the garage overnight, but I'm lazy and usually park in the driveway during the day. We live in southern Ontario, Canada, where winter with ice, snow and road salt play havoc with everything. We have cheaper quotes using recycled asphalt - any comment on using that?

Oh, and we are planning to never move (ha ha)

    Thanks so much.

  • My Witchita Blue Juniper Spiral tree has issues - any suggestions?

I have an approx 5 yr old Witchita Blue Juniper spiral that stands about 5 1/2 ft tall. Last summer the bottom half of the tree had new growth, but the top half didn't. This year, so far the tree is very dry and doesn't seem to have any new growth. The tree is in a flower bed, so I think it got enough water last summer. It's sheltered from the wind, and is in full sun. Any ideas about causes and remedies?

  • Jewelry: What is the best neckchain type?

I have a diamond "journey" pendant that I'd like to wear on a chain. I'd like to lower my risk of losing it, so I'd like the chain to be very strong. I like rope and snake chains, and I don't want the chain to be so thick as to look masculine. I also read that some chains tend to pull any hair that gets caught in it. What type of white gold chain should I buy, and how many millimeters thick should the chain be?
