I've gone through 3 power bricks already. The first one came with the xbox, it broke, the 2nd one I bought online from microsoft, it broke and made a horrible burning plastic smell. The third I bought on eBay, and it made a buzzing noise when I received it but survived about 5 months and now it's broken! Should I contact Microsoft, or will they not replace this brick? If not, is there a reliable type I can find? This is starting to majorly annoy me, it's draining my money just to maintain this thing.3 AnswersXbox1 decade ago
I got Command and Conquer: Tiberium Wars and the new Heroes of Might and Magic for Christmas, but neither will work on my computer. Heroes makes it only to the menu screen and is really sluggish. Once I load the game, it quits. C&C makes it to the actual gameplay but once there are too many units (too much animation I suspect) onscreeen, the game shuts down. I suspect this is because the video card I have isn't powerful enough for the games. I have a desktop HP Pavilion a810n with its default video card, which according to the device manager is an SiS 760 (I think that's the video card). I'm using Windows XP
I could really use some advice on what kind of video card I should get for these games.3 AnswersVideo & Online Games1 decade ago

I've been looking around for a good HDTV for under $900, I don't need it to be huge, so 27" is perfect. It will be mainly for videogames (Xbox 360 and PS3). I'm looking for an LCD TV since I don't really care about the benefits of the plasma and don't want the picture burned into the screen. The best bet so far looks like the Syntax Olevia brand, but I've never heard anyone talk about it, so I have no idea how good it really is.
Also, any suggestions on where to get the best deals on a TV would be greatly appreciated4 AnswersTVs1 decade ago
I recently got two new games for my laptop - Command and Conquer: Tiberium Wars, and Heroes of Might and Magic V. I realize that both require quite a bit of memory to run but I have little else on my computer as it is new. I start up the games and can reach the opening menu, but as soon as I start up the game, it quits and I get that error reporting menu (where you can debug, cancel or report error to microsoft). I checked the system requirements on the games and they seem to match up. I'm guessing it's the video card, since it's the only thing I don't know how to check for on the computer? I had been playing Command and Conquer: Generals before these two games were installed and it worked fine. Also, I'm using Windows XP on a Dell D6302 AnswersPC1 decade ago
I was playing Command and Conquer: Zero Hour as the Chinese, in the Burning Skies mission where you have to stop the enemy from crossing the map. Every time I finish killing the second wave, it always tells me that I lost and that enemies escaped. This can't be possible because i destroyed ALL of the first two waves and I have the entire map revealed and there are no enemies at all. Is there a way around this glitch?1 AnswerVideo & Online Games1 decade ago
I've had to go through 3 different AC Adaptors (the large cube things) and they keep overheating and I have to replace them. This last one a real piss-off, I had only received it in the mail yesterday and it already broke! Any insight to this is appreciated3 AnswersXbox1 decade ago
I brought my PS3 to a friend's house yesterday and he had an HD TV so we switched the settings to HD. When I brought it back to my place, no image or sound would show up on my normal TV, althought the PS3 seems to be functioning normally, so I assume that it's still set on HD settings, which won't show up on a normal TV. Is there a way to reset the settings? It's a bit hard if I have to do it on the menu, since I can't see it.5 AnswersPlayStation1 decade ago
I use Windows XP, and whenever I open a folder with pictures, it automatically views them in filmstrip mode, which I find inconvenient and it's annoying to always have to switch to thumbnail mode. This started happening only recently when I formatted my hard drive. Is there a way to have every folder automatically view in thumbnail mode rather than filmstrip?2 AnswersOther - Computers1 decade ago
Why do Americans hate the French so much? The French helped during the war for independence, France is a very nice country and they're not anywhere near the snobs they're made out to be in the US.
I honestly think it's a bit of conformity going on - people just say things about the French because everyone else is saying it. Most of them don't even know what they hate.
They'll say French are snobs, they likely don't know this firsthand, and there are snobs in many cultures, including America. They say the French smell, but I bet the majority of them have never smelled a Frenchman in their lives and just take other people's word for it. They call them cowards for losing wars, but that's judging people on their ancestors' actions (eg hating present-day Americans for slave ownership).
Seriously, there's no reason to hate an entire country of people, it's almost Hitler-ish. Or maybe I've just run into a lot of rednecks or something, I dunno.5 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade ago
I use windows XP and every time i try to open an .exe file or a shortcut, they have that undefined filetype icon and i get the message "windows cannot open this file."
For example, clicking on internet explorer will get me that message, and the error screen gives me 2 choices - search the internet for an appropriate program or open it with a program from a list. I can open the 'undefined' internet explorer with internet explorer (sounds stupid) and I get on the internet. I can't use this technique on .exe files that haven't been installed however (such as installation programs).
When I check my control panel:folder options:filetypes, my drive, file folder, internet files, shortcuts, basically all the important things are listed as [NONE]. I scanned with ad-aware protection and it catches viruses, but they keep coming back. What should I do?6 AnswersOther - Computers1 decade ago
