Is it acceptable to e-mail the admissions department of a grad school to ask for tips to improve chances?
I'm planning on applying to graduate school next fall (more specifically, I'm applying for physical therapy programs) and I was wondering if it's acceptable to e-mail the admissions department of graduate schools asking for tips to improve my chances of getting accepted? I have a mediocre GPA and would really like input from individual schools on how to offset my GPA to improve my chances, i.e. what kind of GRE scores, how many volunteer/observation hours, or if there's anything else they'd like to see. I'm just not sure if this is something that people do or if I'd even get anything out of it.2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)1 decade ago
My right wrist has been bugging me for a while now, but I'm not sure why or if I should bother going to the doctor. It's not swollen as far as I can tell and there's no bruising. It only hurts when I flex or extend it, not when it's relaxed. The pain is on the top side of my wrist but I can't quite tell what's causing it. It's been getting progressively worse over the past 2 weeks or so. Any ideas as to what is causing this kind of pain? Should I just ride it out, or should I go see a doctor?3 AnswersInjuries1 decade ago
I'm really interested in becoming a physical therapist. However, my GPA isn't that great. Currently, I'm a junior in college, planning to start applying to schools fall 2010 and begin a program summer/fall 2011. My GPA as of the spring was a 3.04. I still have 40+ credits to take after this semester, so I can boost my GPA to maybe a 3.1 or 3.2. I'm not sure how much I'll be able to get it up before applications start, though.
I'm doing a double major in kinesiology and psychology. I don't know if the fact that I'm doing a double major will impact the way that admissions offices view my low GPA or not. Thoughts?
If I do really well on the GRE, would I/where would I have a shot at getting in? What else can I do to improve my chances? I know I need good recommendations and observation/volunteer hours in at least 2 different PT settings.
Ideally I'd like to hear from people who are currently in a DPT program, or who just graduated from a DPT program. But I welcome input from others as well. Also, if you're in or graduated from a DPT program, would you mind telling me what school? Thanks!3 AnswersHigher Education (University +)1 decade ago
I'm really interested in the human body and medicine and health, and would like to work in that kind of field. I don't want to be a doctor or a nurse, and was interested in what other kinds of jobs there are in hospitals that don't require a medical degree. I am currently in college studying kinesiology, and am considering going to graduate school if I can figure out what to study. I know there are jobs as radiology techs and such, but I was wondering what other kinds of jobs there are.4 AnswersHealth Care1 decade ago
I'm 19 years old (20 in Feb) and I've been getting my period since Sept of 01. I feel like my cycle is still very irregular, and I don't know if there is a reason for it. I've been tracking my cycles online through a website since September of 05. Since then, my cycle has been as short as 24 days, and as long as 41. Sometimes it will hover around 33/34 days for a few months, then suddenly start getting more erratic. In just the past year it's been as low as 29 and as high as 39. I have no idea how "regular" other peoples cycles are, so I don't really know what to compare this to. Thoughts? Suggestions?1 AnswerWomen's Health1 decade ago
I really want to get a hair cut, and I'm thinking about getting side-swept bangs... Can anyone find me some pictures of bangs/styles that would look good on me?

I really want a good pair of boots for the winter, similar to Uggs, but I am definitely not paying $120 for a pair of shoes. I've seen fake uggs at target for about $20, and I was wondering if anyone knew of any other stores that had similar products? Preferably less than $50, please.6 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade ago
I met this guy about 2 and a half months ago and I really liked him a lot right away. I told him this about a week into our friendship, which I realize now may have been way too soon. He said that he was very impressed that I told him that I like him to his face, but that he just wanted to be friends. Now, however, he is much more flirty with me, and it's not just me that thinks that; my roommate thinks so also. It's quite obvious that I still like him, but I'm not sure if he likes me back, or if he's just being flirty for the fun of it. He doesn't act like that with other girls as far as I can tell, and he will often ask me to sit in his room with him when he's doing his homework, even if we don't talk (I'm in college...and he lives right down the hall...). Also, when I watch a movie or a sports game on TV and I sit on a person's bed in their room, he will sit next to me and lean against me. I can give more details if you ask me questions, but do you think he might like me back?14 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade ago
I'm in school in Amherst, MA, and my friends and I really want to go camping sometime in October, but we don't know where to go. We're interested in campsites that are relatively cheap, but nice, that will allow ~six 18 year olds to camp. Preferably less than an hours drive away from Pioneer valley. Thanks in advance!1 AnswerOther - United States1 decade ago
