My builder for Storm Sandy was so kind, pleasant. But while rebuilding the 3 damaged rooms, he did it the way he liked it, not following blueprints. My Mom just had a stroke so I must've been on autopilot & didn't see this coming. One day he walked away from the job, saying he miscalculated & ran out of money. Asked me to take out a loan to continue, but I don't have those resources. He left the heat, bathroom, floor, walls. undone & even what he could've done at no expense. Any good things in the house were discarded so I had no bathroom sink, vanity, kitchen, etc. He calls often. Now he wants to move in (to this extension) & build all the rest of it & live there for free. Should I get an inspector & if so, where to get a trustworthy one? And who do I go to,to make a legitimate complaint? Should I sue him? I'm afraid he might retaliate. He still has a key to my house. I'm really dumbfounded at how dumb & naïve I was - I've read all about this kind of scam and thought I was a tough cookie. Now I've searched the web but I'm lost. Can you give me some advice?
