  • Enlisting in the military after med school?

I am currently halfway through college (just got done w/ soph year this spring). I am premed, and will be taking my mcat this summer. it has always been my dream to join the military, and be an Army Ranger. however, I don't want to join as an officer. I want to be an enlisted infantryman MOS 11B with Option 40. Yes, I understand the physical and mental difficulty of becoming a Ranger, and I understand what I would be getting myself into. I am physically fit - I'm on the varsity cross country and track teams at my university and I lift weights. it has been a dream and desire of mine to be a Ranger for several years now so it is something I take seriously.

The thing thats stopping me from enlisting after college is that by the time I finish serving, my pre-requisite classes and mcat score for applying to med schools would expire and I'd have to take them over again. So i was looking into programs the military offer that would pay for my med school tuition, and then in turn I would owe a few years of service after. However, my impression is that all of these programs would make you an officer (Captain) when you serve after obtaining your M.D. and be like a physician in the army. obviously that isn't what I want to do. I was wondering if it would be possible for me to instead be enlisted and become a Ranger after coming out of med school through one of those programs. And also, when would I do residency? Would I be going to some sort of scheduled training with the army during my time in med school?

  • Chance me for Cornell University please!!!?

I applied Early Decision to Cornell University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences as a Biology Major.

My school is very competitive but does not rank.

    GPA: 94

    SAT: 760 math, 690 Reading, 740 Writing.

    1450/1600, 2190/2400

    SAT2: 780 Chemistry, 730 Physics, 730 US History, 720 Biology

I have taken 13 AP classes, 1 freshman year, 2 sophomore year, 3 junior year, and 7 senior year.

Pretty much all my classes are honors and APs

Extracurricular activities: I am a full time runner. Every year, I am on the Cross country, winter track, and spring track team, and I am on Varsity. I also train with my team through the summers.

I had a working experience over one summer at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where I was in a cancer research lab, helping develop a method of molecular diagnosis for lung cancer. I did over 200 hours of this

I had an alumni interview, and it went very well.

In one of my essays, I wrote about my interest in biology and also my working experience.

My grades show an upward trend

  • question about contact lense!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

I have the acuvue oasys 2 weekly contacts where u can use for 14 days before u need to dispose of it. however, i usually just wear it for sports, and so i only wear it about once or twice a week. I was wondering if the 14 days means that u have to throw it out 14 days after u open it, or if u throw it out after 14 days that it has been in ur eye? cuz if the 14 days means the days in my eyes, then does that mean i can use it for like 7 weeks? since twice a week times 7 is 14. thanks!

    GPA: 94

    SAT: 2190- 760 math, 690 reading, 740 writing

    SAT2: 720 bio, 780 chem, 730 physics, 730 us history

AP classes: world history, euro hist, US hist, psychology, statistics, physics B, micro, spanish, us govt, bio, chem, eng lang&comp, calc AB

I volunteered last summer at an MSKCC cancer research lab, studying a new method of molecular diagnosis for lung cancer.

this summer, i got internship at the same place, but this time in pathology department.

I am really intersted in science, especially biology/medical sciences, and i plan to apply as a biology/premed major to college of arts and sciences, and college of agriculture and life sciences

Assume that i have decent recommendations and decent essays.

What would be my chances for both early decision, and regular decision?

    thanks!

    ACT: ~32-33

SAT Subject tests: Biology-720, Chemistry-780, US History, Physics, and Math have not gotten back yet, but assume they are all above 700.

I have been on Cross country, winter track, and spring track all 4 yrs and varsity

Something big I did was that I spent a summer volunteering at cancer research lab Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where I did lab work with researchers who are trying to validate a new method of lung cancer detection through molecular diagnosis. I had about 200 hours. I did this because I am very interested in biomedical sciences, and my transcript shows my interest since I have taken the hardest science courses and have done well in them.
