My Fiance and I own a produce market in Missouri. I have always wanted to make my own variety of fruity scented candles to sell at our business but never really had the room or money to do it. Now, we are well established so the money isn t the problem anymore. We moved into a big house that has the perfect area in the garage with a line of cabinets and a tile countertop that I figure would be perfect for making candles. I thought maybe I ll buy a used stove and install it next to the counters and with that all I need to do is buy all the necessary suppllies and learn how to make them. There is literally an endless amount of information available online regarding this subject but I thought I d like to get the opinions of actual people who have made their own candles and have some real world experience doing so. Any suggestions for how to kick this off? Thanks guys!2 AnswersSmall Business5 years ago
I bought some beautiful fresh tilapia filets from my local grocer today and want to make a dinner of nothing but seafood, and fresh vegetables. Now, I hate using any protein that isn't fresh but I have from time-to-time when I've run out of something or under a time crunch.
With my fresh tilapia filets I really wanted some crab cakes. I bought a new commercial fryer and want to use it to fry the crab cakes. Yet, I want to make the tilapia filets where they are light and flaky with a light creamy sort of sauce over top. Any ideas on a creamy sauce to pour over top the tilapia?
I have some fresh shrimp I am going to do a shrimp boil on and then I'll also pour those over the tilapia when done. Meanwhile, I'll grill up my asparagus and steam some broccoli.
Here's my problem, fresh crab at the market right now was just a little out of my budget so I bought some canned crab meat and some imitation crab meat as well from the refrigerated isle. I'm looking at both of them wondering is they will taste good if I just mince up the "meat" and use it in the crab cakes?
Also, I have a can of whole fancy oysters and a can of clams as well. I thought, I can saute them in a cast iron skillet with a little olive oil, and real butter, with some other types of seasonings. What types of seasonings should I use with these oysters and clams?1 AnswerCooking & Recipes5 years ago
I need to make beefy macaroni and cheese for dinner but I have some wonton wrappers I am just itching to use. I usually make ravioli or mini egg rolls but I want to do something different with these.
I asked my fiance what he wanted for dinner and even though he knows I make literally anything, he asked for macaroni and cheese mixed with some cooked ground beef with salt and pepper. So, of course I want to make it for him but I can't help but want to jazz it up somehow. Which leads me to my next question...
Do you think it would be good if I made little beefy mac-n- cheese pockets? I'll just make the beefy mac-n-cheese and stuff the wonton wrappers and quickly fry up.
I asked him if he wants me to turn it into a chili mac but he says no.

I have some really nice top sirloin steaks that I m using for dinner tonight. The thing is, they re so massive in size there s no way we can eat it all in one sitting so I thought I d use part of it tomorrow night for a different dinner. I have some celery, onion, carrots, and fresh chopped green beans I want to use up but I m not in the mood for soup or stew. Yet, for some reason that s all my mind keeps going to (being that celery, carrots, onions are the essentials in any soup or stew). I suppose I can just go online and look for a recipe (or through one of my 1,ooo cookbooks) but I thought I d see if any of you have a good meal idea.8 AnswersCooking & Recipes6 years ago
I have a bunch of food leftover from some meals over the past few days and I really hate wasting food. So, I'm going to list what stuff I have leftover and I want some suggestions on what I should make. Keep in mind I do have a variety of other kitchen items I can use to pull this stuff together like chicken, or any kind of beef you can think of (literally...we just bought 1/2 a cow and had it butchered) along with other fruits and vegetables available. And I want to try to use as much as this stuff up as possible. Here we go....
1/2 an Apple Pie
7 White Choc. Macadamia Nut Cookies
1/2 Mini Loaf Banana Bread
2 cups White Rice
1 cup Shredded Chicken
1 1/2 cups Fresh Green Beans
1/2 head of Iceberg Lettuce
6-7 ribs of Celery
1/2 bunch of Fresh Green Onions
1/4 cup of Diced Green Chile (from a can)
1/2 Cucumber (sliced thick)

I want to make burgers tonight but ran out of buns. I'm going to put some Thick Cut Applewood Smoked Bacon on them with an Over Easy Egg and Cheddar cheese with Mayo. But like I said...no buns. So I was thinking I'll use this great Crusty Bread I have that has little slivers of Garlic inserted all over the bread before if bakes. I thought I'd cut it nice and thick to handle the weight of the burger, egg, and bacon but first I'lol butter the bread and sear it in a pan first. So...what do you think? Is it going to be good the way it is (which I know it will because I'm an awesome cook) or do you have any suggestions for something to add or take away. Maybe a bit of honey spicy bbq sauce on there or fry the egg instead of runny? Let me know.5 AnswersCooking & Recipes6 years ago
I have a Halloween Party every year and I try to always go over the top. This year, for my Halloween Boo-ffet Menu I am making what I'm calling "Crockpot of Carnage" (it's my famous hellfire chilli). With it I am making a homemade cornbread. So far all I can think to call it is Killer Cornbread but I think I need something better. I want to try avoiding using the word cornbread if I can but will incorporate it if I have to. Does anyone have any ideas on what to name my cornbread for Halloween?2 AnswersHalloween6 years ago
I always make my credit card payment in full but cannot do that this month. If I only make the minimum payment will it lower my credit score? It is my understanding that as long as I continue to make payments on time, no matter if it's the minimum or in full, my credit score should remain in tact, right?4 AnswersCredit6 years ago

I love all types of potatoes but I'm torn...I want to make Ultra Crispy Roasted Potatoes with dinner tonight (I'm making some delicious Rosemary-Garlic Chicken) and while I have my own special recipe for making the perfect crunchy roasted potato I cannot decide whether or not I should used Some Whole New Red Potatoes Or Russet Potatoes. Either one would be good.
Does anyone one know any specific reason why one may be better than the other?6 AnswersCooking & Recipes7 years ago
I was thinking of starting a blog. I need some suggestions on good sites and how to start one up. Are cooking blogs popular?3 AnswersGoogle7 years ago
Do you think meatloaf would be good re-heated in a sauté pan? I have half a loaf left over and I thought I might cut it into 1 inch thick slices and re-heat on the stovetop. This way it heats quicker than the oven, not as wet and greasy as the microwave, but seems it will still be juicy and have a nice crisp outside.

I'm going to make homemade brown gravy and I was thinking about using some bacon grease just to give it some extra depth of flavor in the background. What do you think? Will it be too greasy?
Also, when I make a homemade gravy I typically make a roux (or "rue" for the layman) and add my stock and so on. I'm wondering if using cornstarch with cold stock to start off wouldn't make it better. I'm making this gravy to serve over meatloaf tonight.7 AnswersCooking & Recipes7 years ago
How can I find out what my neighborhood was like in the 1800's or even older than that? I live in St. Peters, Missouri. Maybe I can see what was in this area before it became St. Peters. Were there burial grounds around here; old farming communities; the occult; battles fought; or anything along those lines is what I'm curious about. I would like to see photos of my street in particular, if possible.
Any websites anyone can offer to find these archives would be helpful and will receive a vote for BEST ANSWER if you are helpful.2 AnswersHistory7 years ago

A lot of people drink "Jager Bombs" when out drinking with friends, which is what I used to do. (For those who don't know what that is its an alcoholic beverage consisting of Jagermeister and an energy drink such as Red Bull, Monster, etc) over time I discovered I liked it to the point that instead of just drinking it as a shot I would drink it as a whole drink. I used to use 1 part Jager to 3 parts Monster energy drink. However, over time I noticed I would always get very overheated while sleeping but only after drinking this, my new fav concoction. I thought...maybe if I use more Jager and less Monster, I will sleep better. No matter what I do, when I drink it I never sleep good. I feel soooooo hot when I sleep if I do. Some people have told me that mixing these 2 items can kill me bcuz an energy drink is an upper, therefore speeding up my heart rate, whereas the alcohol (Jager) is a downer, therefore slowing down my heart rate. This can cause confusion in the heart and cause serious complications? Is this all true? Does anyone have an intelligable answer? Why do I feel hot when sleeping and can this mixture kill me?3 AnswersBeer, Wine & Spirits7 years ago
