I love random, quirky places.

  • Can anyone advise me on effective restraining and pins?

My boyfriend and I frequently wrestle for kicks, and, alas, seeing as how I'm (much) weaker and not too familiar with what's effective and what's not, I can never win. Can anyone recommend anything that's not too dangerous and perhaps sufficient enough to hold him down, if only for a few seconds?

While I know portfolio's should not be compared, I was hoping someone would be able to provide me a sample portfolio of a high school student that was accepted into an art school. I ask this because I do not want the biased opinions of friends and family, and I wish to see for myself as to where I stand in my quality of work. If it is of any help, I'm thinking along the lines of Pratt, MICA, SVA, FIT, RISD, etc... Thanks!

  • Any recipes with dried bean curd sheets?

I got them at a supermarket some time ago (I love trying new and unusual items in meals), but I can't seem to find any recipes that include it. Help? Better yet, how do you 'un dry' them? Soak them in water?

Did the founding fathers succeed in creating a government with adequate seperation fo powers between the three branches of government, or does America simply have an elected king? What instances, court cases, laws (or law violations, depending on your position) support/disprove the idea?

For the longest time, I've been having difficulty convincing my mother that I'm not her little baby anymore. When I turned 15 it took me half a year for me to convince her to let me stay out past 8 with friends. When I turned 16, and got my permit, I thought she finally understood that I've grown up. Alas, my assumption could not be more wrong. Now, months later, even with my permit, she is afraid to let me drive, regardless of the fact that she is sitting in the passenger seat, and is fully supervising me. Now, on the eve of my 17th birthday, I have yet to have any driving expirience. And to top that off, she refuses to let me go out with my older friends who have thier driving liscences. I understand that they worry about me, but they can't seem to grasp that no matter what I do or where I go, there are always risks. It's not like I'm doing something sketchy or unhealthy;I'm spending good, clean time hanging out with responsible friends. How can I convince them them to let go?

I've already tried applying for a number of jobs nearby, but alas... I was thinking of organizing a bake sale, but is there anywhere I can go without the requirement of fees and/or permits? I live on a highway sort of street, so chances are, that no one will stop. There's a park nearby, but is it legal? Any suggestions would be most helpful, thank you in advance! (I don't know what category this actually belongs in...sorry. :x)

Whenever we get together, we always end up watching movies at his house, consecutively, one after another for hours. I surely don't mind, but I'm paranoid in the sense that I don't want him to get bored. The only thing locally for us to do is...(what a coincidence) is going to see a movie in theaters. Anything else would have to require getting means of transportation, which isn't always that easy, considering how we're only 16. So could anyone suggest some creative ideas for get togethers? Something really casual, light and easy, considering our age. I would appriciate it very much, and thanks a lot in advance!
