• Do restaurants train waitstaff to give slower service to customers who drink alcohol?

Facts: Waiters/waitresses always bring drinks out first. Restaurants sell alcohol at higher profit margins than other items. My hypothesis is that if the party orders alcoholic drinks, the waiter is trained to wait longer to take their food order/bring the food out in hopes that the customers will finish their drinks and order another round... show more

My hypothesis is that if the party orders alcoholic drinks, the waiter is trained to wait longer to take their food order/bring the food out in hopes that the customers will finish their drinks and order another round before their food comes out. Can anyone who works/has worked in food service speak to or against this? Has anyone else noticed that it seems to take longer to get food if you drink alcohol in restaurants?

  • Does Vinnie Paz (of Jedi Mind Tricks) accurately represent the Islamic faith?

Jedi Mind Tricks are my favorite RHH act, but I'm not thrilled with VP's occasional homophobia, use of "******," or his ideas about Islam. I think he is sincere in his beliefs (Muslim converted from Catholic), but he seems to emphasize the violent Jihadist stereotype in his verses. As I understand it, Islam does not condone fanatical violence. I also know that NOI is prominent in Philly, which may have influenced him as well. Any Muslim fans of JMT who can comment on this? Is my assessment way off, or do you agree? Is VP a good ambassador for Islam? I'm no expert, so I'd like to hear what you think.

Do you take one of the empty pair (sit by yourself) or sit next to the stranger? I always sit by myself, if possible, and from my observations, most people think the same way. It always puzzles me when people sit down next to me when there are clearly opportunities to sit alone. If you are one of these people, please shed some light on this question! I want to know what your rationale is.

  • What makes someone decide to back into a parking spot?

I always drive in forward and then back out when I leave, but some people are motivated to do the opposite. My theory is that people either do one or the other, but nobody has mixed preferences. If you follow the "back-in" school of thought, please explain why you prefer it to backing out. If you back-in sometimes and back-out... show more
