I currently share an office with two people.
But I now have the option of taking one of two office spaces:
1. A huge, isolated, quiet, sunny cubicle space (huge windows on two sides). OR
2. An interior office all to myself. Dark, no windows. About the same size as the cubicle space.
I want the cubicle space because I love sunlight, but I'm worried if I decline having my own office, they'll think I'm unambitious, unmotivated, or devalue myself.
Which should I take?2 AnswersSoftware6 years ago
I'm packing for a friend's out-of-town wedding this weekend, and I'm invited to the rehearsal dinner. The rehearsal dinner invite says "casual" dress and it's at a mexican restaurant. I checked with the bride to double check on the dress code, and she said her family will be wearing nicer than casual dress, but the groom's side will probaby be wearing jeans, and she'll be wearing a cocktail dress. What should I wear so I'm neither too dressed up nor too casual???4 AnswersEtiquette7 years ago
I found an error on my resume that I just submitted for a job. I accidentally put that I finished my undergrad degree in May 2010 when it was actually Dec 2010 (I put the right year, wrong month). The deadline was Friday, they will begin going over the resumes on Monday. Should I call HR on Monday morning and ask if they can upload a new resume for me?
If I don't do anything, there's a chance they might not notice (after all, it's the right year, just the wrong month). However, it looks really bad if it comes up at some point during the application process. If I call HR and ask to have the resume replaced, it would be corrected, but there's a chance the hiring committee might be able to tell it was a revised resume, and then they'll definitely be aware of my careless error.
What should I do? I don't want to look like an incompetent fool (though I apparently am one). I really really want this job!1 AnswerOther - Careers & Employment7 years ago
I've been growing an indoor container tomato plant. It's my first tomato plant, and I think it was doing pretty well. It's reached about 2 feet, and is starting to produce a tomato (and I can see other little blooms starting). I had repotted it twice before-- once into a 2 quart planter, and again into a 2.5gallon planter, where it has been, and where it has grown to the size it is today.
I kept reading that tomato plants should really be in 5-gallon containers at the least, and my plant was rootbound in the 2.5 gallon it was in, so today I decided to repot it into a big 5-gallon bucket (even though it seemed to have been doing well and already started to produce fruit). I made sure to keep the huge root ball in tact by not removing much of the soil, and I buried it a little deeper than it was before to encourage more root growth. I also staked it.
This was about 2 hours ago, and now my plant is VERY droopy already. I watered it a little and put it out of direct sunlight. How can I best care for my plant while it's recovering (if it DOES recover???)? Was it a mistake to repot such a mature-ish tomato plant when it was seemingly doing well in the 2.5 gallon pot? Will the repotting affect the fruit that's already started to grow?5 AnswersGarden & Landscape8 years ago
My bf interviewed for two jobs, both with similar pay.
The first job is a job that would pay the bills, but he isn't very excited about because it doesn't really further his career in any way. The second job he is VERY excited about, is basically his most ideal job.
He is a finalist for both jobs. From talking with the employer, it sounds like he will definitely get the first job, and would start right away. However, he doesn't find out if he got the second job for another month.
Should he take the first job? If he takes the first job, he won't be able to take the second job, which he really wants. Or should he decline the first job and hold out for the second job?2 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment8 years ago
A local organization is hiring for several different positions in a variety of areas. My contact with the organizations asked me to send him just one general resume, and he'll distribute it accordingly. I've done my best to tailor my resume to meet the vague descriptions that were given to me of the positions.
But should I include a cover letter? I'm not really sure how I would write a general cover letter that's for three different positions in three different areas. Is it bad to send only a resume?2 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment8 years ago
My carbon monoxide detector has been going off intermittently for about an hour. I called my landlord and she said they had someone come and check it recently and it's a faulty detector, so that made me feel a little better. However, TWO carbon monoxide detectors are now going off. Do I need to call the fire department? If they tell me leave, I have nowhere to go and no money for a hotel. What do I do?5 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police8 years ago
My dog has cancer, she's not going through chemo anymore because it's progressed too far. Her behavior is 100% totally normal right now, but she has had a fever hovering at 103-103.5 for about an hour, most likely due to the tumors in her liver (it's not an infection because she's on antibiotics).
We're reluctant to take her in the emergency vet, because we're afraid it might lead to her being put down (bc of the cancer, even though she superficially feels okay), plus like I said, her behavior is totally normal and her spirits are high, it wouldn't make any sense to put her down yet. If her fever continues to hover around 103.5 (and doesn't get worse), how long should it take for it to her fever to come down? Does it usually come down quickly? Or does it take hours?

My bathtub has been backed up for a few days and won't unclog. When I take a shower, it fills up about 6 inches (gross, I know) and it doesn't fully drain for about an hour after I get out of the shower.
I've gotten all the visible hair out of the drain and I've tried plunging it to no avail. Neither worked. I was going to get a chemical or pour hot water down the drain but I've read that it's not good for the pipes and for sealants, etc. What do I do?
Newest development: when I turn on the faucet at the sink, water starts bubbling up from the bath tub drain and creates a little puddle (which, of course, drains ridiculously slowly). What in the world is going on??7 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years ago
I adopted a dog about 3 months ago, and since she was living in a shelter, she is trained to be left in a crate when we leave the apartment. Sometimes I am gone for 4 hours at a time, and would prefer if she had the run of the house while I was gone rather than leaving her in her crate, but when I've attempted to do this, she gets very anxious and cries and gets into things. How can I train her to leave her out while we're gone and her behave appropriately and feel safe without being locked in her crate?14 AnswersDogs9 years ago
Okay, I'm by no means a professional photographer and am very much new to photography. I have a Nikon D50 and I'd like to take some photos of clothing/people in an indoor space of about 10ft x 8 ft. I'm going to be using two fluorescent lights and some kind of diffuser. I don't want to use strobes because they're too expensive and my skill level begs continuous lighting.
One thing I'm having trouble finding on the internet is information about how strong the lights should be. Any suggestions?2 AnswersPhotography9 years ago
I'm going to Disney World this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I packed very light- 5 sun dresses, one bathing suit, 2 pairs of comfortable flats, and a cardigan. My boyfriend insists I need to bring at least one pair of shorts and a top. I don't want to do this because I much prefer dresses as they take up less space and I also don't really see the point. Is there any logic that says I need to have separates at Disney World?2 AnswersPacking & Preparation10 years ago
I've had this internship for 4 months, and I will have it for only a little more than 3 weeks more. One of my coworkers is extremely condescending to me. She constantly calls me "sweetie" in a really condescending way and after everything I say, she finds a way to correct me or somehow imply that I have no idea what I'm talking about. I'm incredibly sick of it and it's REALLY starting to get to me. Like, when I come home I'm unable to just let it go for some reason and it really just ruins my day. I'm only going to be there for 3 weeks more, but 3 more weeks of her really seems like an eternity. Should I confront her and possibly risk making the remaining three weeks even more of a hell? or should I just bite the bullet and keep my mouth shut?4 AnswersEtiquette10 years ago
I am 5'4", 127 lbs. I'm a classic yo-yo dieter. About 4 months ago, I started losing weight, eating about 1100-1350 calories a day. About 2 months ago, I decided I needed to stop the madness and starting losing weight the correct way, so for the past 8 weeks, I've been eating about 1350-1600 calories a day and exercising several times a week. I eat pretty healthily and drink plenty of water. I noticed that as soon as I started eating more than 1300 calories regularly, I gained like CRAZY, obviously because my metabolism had been in a rut.
But here I am, 2 months after I started eating the correct amount of calories and exercising and my metabolism STILL has not recovered, and CONTINUE to gain. Why!??? I am so sick of gaining and so tempted to just start eating 1200 a day again, but I know I need to do it the right way. But the right way is not doing right by me.4 AnswersDiet & Fitness10 years ago
I’m applying to graduate school, and the application plus the references are due in April. I started an internship in January. My supervisor works in a different office in the next city over, so I don’t get to see her very often and haven’t really had a chance for her to get to know me that well. I really really need a recommendation from her, but I’m afraid it’s not appropriate to ask because I haven’t had much of a chance to show my competence or values, etc. I've only really met with her in person 3 or 4 times! Should I ask anyway?2 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment10 years ago
I am 5'4" 126lb (127 some days). I've been eating between 1300 and 1400 calories a day. I've been running about 20 minutes a day. Not only have I gained weight on the scale (though it may be muscle), but I can see and feel that I've gained in my face. Why am I gaining weight???
I'm extremely tempted to drop down to 1000-1200 calories, because I know I'll lose weight, but I told myself I was going to do it the right way this time. Well, I'm not really feeling inspired to do it the right way if it'll make me fatter.6 AnswersDiet & Fitness10 years ago
I had smoked weed about 56 hours before the test, just one or two small hits. I didn't know I was being tested, so I didn't prepare very well, just normal dental hygiene, brushed and flossed twice a day and used listerine the day of. When I took the test I tried not to get it too wet and didn't hold it on my cheek, just between my teeth. Is it going to come back clear??1 AnswerMedicine10 years ago
